At this very moment it does make sense, but they’ve got some incredible D prospects coming so long term it doesn’t make sense like you mentioned

Those incredible D prospects are likely to take one to two seasons so improve the defense now and when those prospects arrive trade Ristolainen in his ufa season for a decent return.

Ristolainen to Edmonton makes sense imo.

Soft pass from a sabres fan. Close but the sabres are in the market for player(s) that will actually be in the lineup this season

I like this trade.
With the right wingers Gagner could produce as well as he did for the Jackets.
The prospects are decent and there is a second.
This trade cuts the Sabres cap by $2,000,000 which is a big plus and if Gagner does not work out, his contract is up after this season.
I would consider this deal. Let's make a deal! cheers

Bear or Jones, IMO Jones would be better for Buffalo right now.

That may be true but Ristolainen is now and I do not think we have seen the best of him.

I could see this trade as you do.

Check out Gagner's season with the Jackets and his pts/gm with the Oilers, he could be the Sabres #2 center next year and with good wingers would give the Sabres two good lines.

Holland bought out Sekera to make room for the prospects. Acquiring Ristolainen makes no sense for Edmonton.

I don't know if that was the reason, it looks to me like he bought out Sekera to free up some cap space to make a bunch of mediocre signings.

He stated that was the reason, if you follow the Oilers you should know that.
