Klefbom is good but he isn't worth a 30 goals guy and it's not Jesse Pool party that can make it fair. Heart and soul of our team man, Bergevin trade this guy and Montreal goes up in flames hehe plus he is the only decent RW we have. 3.7M for a 30 goals guy who play every game like its his last one is too valuable for the habs it would take a big return to think about getting rid of him.

I like Armia a lot but he cant be on the top 6 if we want to be serious contender in a near future. In a bottom 6 role tho he is very useful

Well, this is not ridiculous. I'm MTL fan and Gallagher is really important to this team. This being said, he's cheap for the 2 next seasons at 3,75M, in which he'll probably put up 30 goals. After these 2 seasons, he'll ask 7-8 millions per season for many seasons. But IMO he will not score his 30 goals often after his next contract signing. He'll slowly decrease to 20 goals at 7-8M/season. Also, he's a RW and in the next years, we'll have Caufield, maybe Drouin, Armia and Ylonen at RW.

Klefbom, enters his prime, is signed at a reasonable cap hit of 4.2M for 4 years and plays LD, which is our need right now. He played in a bad team and was hurt. Playing with Weber would be good for him.

I seriously don't care about JP, but maybe it would be a good fit. He mostly played with RNH last season. Maybe it could be nice to see him play with KK and Lekhonen, since the last time he had success was at 18 when he was playing with Finnish players.

This being said, if I'm Bergevin, I try to improve this trade like that:

Gallagher + Mete or Kulak
vs
Klefbom + 2020 1st round pick

Gonna have to disagree with most here: Gallagher's intangibles (age, size, contract) make him worth less than Klefbom in my books - and in the leading private evaluator Evolving Hockey. So unless Mike Reilly has more upside than Puljujarvi there is no deal here.

@d4rk1ll4 you have some good commentary, but then your suggested deal is worse for the Oilers - you have them giving up a probable lottery ticket which is completely off base.

Well, maybe you don't understand what represents Gallagher. The impact he would have on the Oilers roster would be enormous. With McDavid, he could score 40+ goals, and he is the type of player that you want on the ice to motivate his teammates to put efforts, what I think Edmonton lacks. Gallagher is a BOMB, and MTL won't trade him for anything. I know Klefbom is good, but Gallagher is something special. If Bergevin trades him, he's fired...

Sure Gallagher would score a lot with McDavid- everyone does. But the question is: will he provide more positive impact on the team than losing Klefbom does negative impact? The Oilers were 20th is scoring last year but 26th in goals against, just 2 out of 28th place. I'd love to add Gallagher, but he'd be the 4th best forward, it doesn't make sense to give up our #1 defenseman on a team that already has a poor defense - and then adding a likely top-10 pick on top of that is incredibly stupid. Your proposal is very, very far from fair.

I get that. In fact, MTL knows they probably won't win Stanley Cup this year and they have good LHD prospects, MTL will hope Mete takes a step, Kulak stays consistent and Chiarot is better than Benn. We should be ok. Romanov is coming next year. Reilly, Alzner, Leskinen, Ouellet and Olofsson are all near NHL and have different strenghs, And btw, who scored 40 goals with McDavid except Draisaitl?

Did I say someone had? If you read above you'll see that I wrote "Gallagher would score a lot with McDavid - everyone does." We know that McDavid can take an 11 goal scorer (Maroon) and make him a 27-goal man, I have no doubt he'll push Gallagher over 40 easily.
