If it was 11 though, its not the worst deal. I agree its too steep but its not terrible as long as you are getting 8 years. Ceci would undoubtedly be given away to anyone that wants him for literally anything. I doubt it would cost the Leafs to move him but they may get nothing more than a 7th for him. I bet a team would be willing to take a flyer on him.

There is a large population on this site that want Marner to win this contract so badly only to spite the leafs. I don't believe for a second anyone outside of Marner's camp actually thinks he should be the 2nd highest paid player in the entire league. He hasn't done anything to deserve that much and if Ferris tried this stunt anywhere else, there would be zero people supporting this ask. But since its TO, and half the attention that franchise gets is from people who only want them to fail, there is a huge sentiment that he should get maximum dollars.

well you are carrying an extra scratch so there is .675-.775 mill you can clear up, then who ever gets sent down will clear up .700 and .675 mill, so that's 2.05 mil cleared just by sending guys down and if u send down the more expensive guys you could clear 2.85 mill and carry 1 scratch. so could work but it would need to be for the max 8 years none of this 5 year crap.

In a perfect world, he shows himself pretty well to start the season and then creates some value for himself. I keep having this dream where Benning in Vancouver likes what Ceci does in the preseason and then sends Tanev at half price + for Ceci because he's younger and a bigger body.
