We gave them the cup when we traded Roy. Why the hell would we give them another one with Price?

You aren't getting the Avs 2nd line C, half of their top D pair and a 1st for goalie who is already 32 and signed at 10.5m for 7 more seasons. Price is a great goalie but that's a boat anchor of a contract to have on the books when you have so much young talent to still pay in the next few years.

Avs get worse with that trade, they don't become a cup contender. Price is the elite goalie but last year, there was basically no difference bw him and Grubi
Grubi 2.64 .917
Price 2.49 .918

The marginal upgrade in performance last season does not cost you someone like Girard who is signed now for 8 more years and is a stud, plus a very good 2C and a good starter....toss in the 1st. Its just a delusional homerish trade

Grubauer is an ok #1, but was a backup the year before. Kadri is a #2 Center (MTL doesn’t need center anyway), Girard top4 LHD and a 1st for the BEST goaler in the world with a 2nd round pick. This is a bad return for MTL, Girard & the 1st are the only good things coming back ( Kadri is good but not necessary ). If MTL trade Price, its for prospect & picks.

What value of Price to the Habs fans and what Goalies actually are traded for will never align. Goalies do not fetch king ransom of pieces. Plus when you factor in his age and his contract already. Its bonkers to say thats not even enough for him....thats a gross over payment.

And best goalie in the world? He's not currently the best in the world, he was that a few years ago and is still a good goalie but that mantle has been passed. Even look at Grubis vs Prices numbers last season, they were basically identical

so Price is only as good as the D core in front of him? So why would he fetch your kings ransom best goalie in the world price tag if he subject to only as good as he D Core, What would John Gibson get who had similar stats and played on a much worse team?

Fowler Lindholm Manson Montour ... Mete Petry ( Price was really good when Weber returned in December ). Mete-Petry Reilly-Juulsen Ouellet-Benn was MTL defense for 2 months. You put Vasilevsky Holtby Gibson Rask with this defense you can’t do ****

Fowler was hurt and only played 59 games, Montour 62 before being traded. Weber played 58 games, so if you are going to use that as an excuse, you have to that for the Ducks to when it comes to half of their Top 4
