Would Chevy consider trading Connor

Description
This is a question for Jets fans from a non-Jets fan: if you could get Laine locked up long term would you consider- and would Chevaldayof consider, in your estimation - trading Kyle Connor for a defenseman?

I'm thinking something surrounding Darnell Nurse, for instance.

I've always held the stance that GM's are fools if they refuse to listen to offers on any of their players, even the "untouchable" ones. Just because you're listening doesn't mean you're actively shopping, but maybe a team offers you a deal you can't turn down on one of your star players.

Anyways, I don't know enough about Nurse to comment on the trade, but Connor is a damn good player (he has two consecutive 30+ goal seasons as a 22 year old), so the Jets better be getting a king's ransom for him.

Very true. I see hundreds of AGM's with Laine trades on here but rarely do I see a Connor trade, so I'm wondering why. Most WPG fans seem to think Laine is more valuable than Connor, so why not trade the less valuable player?

I'm a Jets fan and ideally I'd like to see both of them locked down long term but if the right offer came in I'd be more then okay with Connor being traded, he doesn't have the ceiling Laine does imo.

If Laine does indeed get traded I'm sure the Jets will lose that trade, they should be doing everything they can to sign him.

Great comment, thanks. Can you comment on a potential return for Connor?

Ideally, the Jets should want to keep both Connor and Laine, but Connor is that rarity who is a threat offensively and still can be responsible defensively. Invaluable in my opinion. The Jets do face a cap crunch. There would be another players the Jets would moved first... I hope.

I notice Connor’s plus/minus was -7 last season. Calling Jets fans, have I over valued his defensive capabilities? Share me your thoughts.

Yeah a lot of people on here have been definitely overrating Connor’s defensive ability, calling him a good two-way player (or something like that) when in reality he’s not that much better than Laine in his own zone.

His point totals have also been inflated by playing with Schiefele and Wheeler the majority of his career so far.

I’m not bashing Connor, I think he’s a great player and going to improve, and hope Chevy locks him up long term, but anything over $7.5M is an overpayment.

Also Perreault/Kulikov would be moved before any of Ehlers/Laine/Connor

You know, that's not a terrible trade; Darnell Nurse is a good place to start, however EDM would have to add. I believe the price would be Nurse and Benson/Yamamoto for Connor. Perhaps a pick also going that way. Connor is the perfect player to ride shotgun with McDavid on that top line in EDM.

I had to look at their advanced stats at 5v5. When all three are together they got outscored by 6 goals, Connor without Wheeler/Scheifele they got outscored by 1, without Connor they outscored opponents by 8. That’s kinda bad all around. Their bread and butter has to be the PP.

I am going to watch more Jet games this year. Thanks for the incite.
