Maybe. I think its at least in the realm of fair. Depends on how you value PoolParty and and EDM 1st always has potential to be a great pick.

I'm a big Tatar fan but Edmonton would be total morons to make this trade, their 2020 1st should be off the table unless they're getting a massive haul back.

You are probably right but you know Holland isn't that good of a GM.

You're right, the value isn't far off in either direction, I'd just be surprised to see Montreal be willing to take a step back this season

Montreal will probably be selling Tatar anyway at TDL when they are out of a playoff race. Why not get good assets back ?

Here's a team that missed the playoffs by 2 points. Their developing forwards are getting better, they've added a defenseman into their top 4 and fixed their backup goalie situation. I think they're aiming for a playoff spot lol, why would they trade their 2nd best scorer who still has another season on contract? I'm clearly disagreeing that their planning on trading Tatar, not advocating to try to ''not getting good assets back''?

I know he isn't but he can't be that stupid can he? lol
Drouin gets a lot of hate around here but he's at least got some term to him, still not sure if that'd be a great trade for Edmonton but it'd be a bit better if it was him rather then Tatar.

Always though Jurco looked decent when I saw him play in Detroit but he couldn't seem to gain any traction with Babcock which isn't a surprise I guess.

You are also talking about the same team that as a couple players with career high in a season. And please, Chiarot will play 3rd pairing as the top 4 will probably be Mete-Weber and Kulak-Perty as it was last year. Tampa and Boston will stay 1st and 2nd. Toronto got a little better IMO and they are still ahead of montreal which means MTL is in for a wild card spot only. Now, Florida is WAY better than they were. If MTL makes the playoff, it will be wild card at best.. why not develop younger players instead of trying to make 1 round and then out ?

I always loved Jurco and the combo of a back injury and Babcock playing him with Miller and Glendening all but ruined his NHL career. He is healthy now and killed it for Charlotte in the AHL playoffs.

I think in all reality a trade like this likely involves top 10 protection.

Also an extremely high chance Domi doesn't replicate last seasons production.

You can try and decide what Montreal's direction should be but at the end of the day they're quite obviously trying to content in the next 2-3 years. Trading their top winger with term for a 2020 first doesn't seem to be part of the plan lol

Gallagher is their top winger with term and just ask MTL fans if they think Tatar could be traded. I am by no means saying this will or should happen but to say it isn't a possibility is silly. PoolParty could also resurrect his career playing with another Finn in Kotkaniemi.

You already have Domi - Drouin - Lehkonen - Byron on LW
You already have Gallagher - Caufield - Ylonen - Armia on RW
You already have KK - Poehling - Suzuki - Danault on C

You could totally get rid of Tatar and still try to contend in a 2-5 years window. So yes, a 2020 1st will help in one of two ways :

1- Having a ELC in 2-4 years to help with your cap situation
2- Have assets to help acquire a top tier player to help you contend

And in this trade scenario you would also have a fresh start for PoolParty as well

Yes, he would play 2nd RW i think.

Drouin - Danault - Gally
Domi - KK - Poolparty
Lehkonen - Poehling - Armia

something like that

If PoolParty doesn't step up, at least you had a 1st for Tatar. I think it's worth.

Yeah I think it is pretty fair and makes decent sense for both teams.
