If I'm mtl ..I already have Brooks and Romanov on d ...I think Suzuki is better than poehling and a potential #1c so no way I trade him , even for Ottawa's darling Swede

They aren't on the same level, and it's not even close.

Based on what exactly? Fine, people can like certain players more but Suzuki has done nothing but improve every year since his draft year and he was drafted in the same range as Brannstrom was. What tangibly changed for this to be considered a forgone conclusion?

Thats a hard pass by Ottawa Brannstrom is an elite defense prospect. Suzuki is a good forward prospect who will probably end up a little better then Kapanen ( solid middle 6 winger). Where as Branstrom will probably be a top pairing caliber defenseman.

league perception

Fair enough. I think that is quite ambiguous though don't you think? There aren't any documented lists that GM's put out to say which players they think are better or not. I mean, your basically getting this perception from the Craig Buttons, Pierre Mcguires and Bob Mckenzies of the world and some amateur posts online. I feel like people saying its a no brainer one way or the other is a little much. Its not a forgone conclusion that Suzuki becomes the better player in his career. That isn't a slam dunk impossibility to happen based on anything we've seen or know.
