Wheeler has NMC, so his he only move is to a contender. Name a team that wants/can take on his 8.25m X 5 contract. Gee Jets have no reason to go younger by trading Wheeler. They have been gifted 7m in cap by Buff retirement (if it. happens), though they have find a RHD.

That's why they trade Wheeler for a RHD and integrate the youth in. Wheeler for Risto + prospect + 1st seems like a good deal

Well it might work if they take a replacement level player on like darren helm but detroit wouldnt do it, just find someone who does and they most likely have a helm kind of contract

Sabres are have 1m cap space, you just added 3m to the Sabres. Again we does Wheeler leave the good Jets for the Sabres?

Not saying that. I'm saying the deal wouldn't be good for the sabres to bring on 33 year old with such a big contract.

Would need to retain salary, but with Buff off the books it becomes more palatable to do so
