Mayfield would be a terrific asset for a contender with his contract, but ANA is far from that. They're not in the position for moving one of their best young wingers for a D they don't really need.

Mayfield and a 1st is more realistic.

As an Anaheim fan, I love this idea as the starting point for a good old hockey trade. The Ducks definitely need Mayfield because he's the perfect #2candidate/guaranteed #3 NHL quality RhD we lack. But given Kase's upside and the value difference between a scoring forward and a defenseman, I would only do this trade if the Isles include their 2020 second.

Well, you and I sure have a difference of opinion on what the Isles have to add!

Now that the rumored Faulk deal has apparently fallen through, it will be interesting to see if this seemingly obvious exchange comes up.

I think I’m just desperate to add a top 6 forward I’m willing to overpay. I took out Ho-sang - but mayfield and a 1st stands lol

Now you and I have reached a reasonable range. I could be happy with either extreme. I'm trying to be as fair as possible: I think there has to be a little discount given Kase's injury history.

I think Anaheim and NYI make good trade partners - I'm surprised with the amount of RD the islanders have there hasn't been a trade. Including Bridgeport, Pulock, Dobson, Mayfield. Boychuk, Hutton, Wilde.

Couldn't agree more. We need to make a move and with this depth, Mayfield has the most value with least risk for Isles. I would do Mayfield and the 2nd for Kase.

Lou Lamoriello has made one trade as isles GM, for Matt Martin, which was more of a PR move after Tavares left. He acknowledged he failed before the trade deadline, then he said he would address the scoring issues after we were eliminated from the playoffs. Now it looks like he's ok with rolling out the same forward group. Something has to give.

Anaheim really should've offersheeted Deangelo something in the 2nd round pick compensation range before he caved and signed for $925K.
