I understand in 3 years he will be a 3rd line Vet... but a 80pts player 5 years in a row accept last season with 53pts...
note the is real salary will be 5M the last 3 years= regular value for a vet that shold be 20G-20A/years at 34+years old.
My goal is to get a top 70+pts for the next 3 years at a cheap cost... as we will get Caufield & Poehling jumping IN strong next year

he is almost at the 3rd line vet role now. and has 6 years of 9.5 cap hit against the team left. you can get a similar player for cheaper.

during his prime. sure. in a small but fitting my argument sample over 8 games he has 1 goal and 1 assist. he is shooting at a career worst 5.3% and is averaging his lowest TOI at 17:43 since his rookie year. projecting that out right now over an 82 game season is 20.5 points. at a cap hit of 9.5m. Obviously he is going to get more than 21 points. but i think its fair to assume his downward spiral started last year and to expect similar results this year.

In theory its fine to go out and get a guy like Benn but unfortunately MTL isn't in the position to add another player like that. With Weber and price we're already maxed out on expensive 30+ year old players signed well into their late 30's.

You could certainly argue that Lehkoten is gonna out produce Benn this year at a quarter of the cost. And you want to add those two promising kids?

You really think that Lehko would make morepoints than Benn this season... let say over 50points?
No way He can't score on a empty net... very weak shot %... he is just a great player without the puck (What Mtl like )

Wont know until maybe thanksgiving to see whos clearly on the outside looking in. Theres plenty of teams with quality guys that could be moved if they dont pick up the pace and fall too far behind in october/november. Hell, look at last year where the blues almost traded petro and schenn and were seriously considering moving tarasenko as well.
