The Edmonton trade is not good. Larsson really isn't worth anything. He's an okay #4 defenceman. Sure he's better than Ceci but is the value of Kapanen better? No not even close. Haas would be hard pressed to even make the Leafs.

The other trade is just silly, you are moving assets for a guy who's not been better in the AHL than Kaskisuo. Why would anyone think this guy is better than Hutchinson?

Larsson had one bad year when his dad dies and he is not good. He in his last 3 games looks like he is finally back to normal.

He's literally never had a good year. Not one. He started his career being "the most NHL ready" prospect in his draft year, which historically means nothing except he's big. According to advanced stats, he's never been anything better than average and the eye test shows nothing either. He's nothing special, never has been and never will be. Not without value but he's just a bottom 4 stay at home guy. Paying too much for those guys never helps. I'd be hard pressed to give up a B prospect and a 2nd for him.

That is awesome, because 10 out of 10 times i would pick him over Ceci..... In my opinion he had 1 bad year, he is stay at home and we do not expect points out of him, he is very hard to play against and I love him on my team and dont want to get rid of him.

I don't think the Blues are open to trading Husso since he's probably going to be our Allen replacement but you get bonus points for making a Leafs-Blues trade not involving Pietrangelo or Parayko

I'd take him over Ceci 10 out of 10 times as well. That being said, he's still not really good. He's not worth anything close to Kapanen. In a perfect world, I'd have Larsson as my 3rd pair RHD who kills penalties. I do think I'd even pick him over Holl.

He always has played on first pair in Edmonton, he should be on second pair, but not 3rd pair. I sure like that Holl, he is going to be a hell of a player.

Chiarelli went with Larsson because he was a big, decent skating defenceman who was supposed to develop into a modern puck moving defensively responsible 2 way defender. He isn't that and never will be. He's a bottom of the lineup defensive guy who can't handle the puck, push the pace and because of that, he's never going to be better than a #4. As I mentioned in a perfect world, he's on your bottom pair.

I like having 1 puck mover with one defensive guy, Nurse cant pass the puck, but he is with Bear and Klembomb moves the puck, so he is with Larsson on line 1. It has worked good for us so far, but our 3rd pair makes lots of mistakes and Bear does as well. When Benning is back we will be set again on D. Benning has amazing Advanced stats and Oilers fans would get rid of him if they could, he is the whipping boy here. Larsson was never and offensive guy, not in Sweden or anywhere else. I wouldnt trade him, but IMO he is exactly what the leafs need.

It really hasn't, Edmonton is doing exactly what I expected apart from having a hot start. Their goaltending isn't good enough, neither is their defence and they have 1 line. I don't think they are going to make the playoffs and the deeper we get into the season, the more I think McDavid and Draisaitl start falling off.

Nobody from Edmonton expects them to make the playoffs for 2 more years, yes we have a ****ty backup, Mikko has been good as a starter and once Benning got hurt our D went in the crapper. Definitely have 3 good forwards only, today all 3 will be on separate lines. We have no wingers and keep drafting more D. We are stacked at D depth and will have Bouchard up next year who is our future number 1 D finally as we havnt had one of those in years and years, Borberg is 2 years away and Samarukov is supposedly ready as well. We are totally fine at D

I am not nearly as hopeful on the dcore. I think Bouchard is going to be really good but he's not going to be a number one for a few years yet. Definitely on the team for sure. I think Edmonton needs more time developing time. They should plan to not make the playoffs but I don't think that is the plan. I think ownership wants it fast tracked thinking that having two super elites is enough to win and it isn't. I think they should sell a lot of assets this year and next year try to be a very young and exciting fast team. Otherwise its going to be this season over and over again. If everything imaginable breaks right, they'll be in the running for a playoff spot but if literally anything goes wrong they have no chance. I don't like much of their prospects outside of Bouchard and a couple others and I think the fan angst and calls for trading for Hall are going to put too much pressure on ownership to push for the playoffs. If that happens, I bet you will be looking at McDavid wanting to go somewhere else once his NMC comes into play.

You got to like Samarukov and Broberg, Lavoie, Benson and Mcloud as well, yah the rest is crap. You know the Oilers know "a thing or 2 about winning"

I am not sold on either. Really making the squad shouldn't be that hard. Their depth upfront is the worst in the NHL and yet McLeod can't crack the lineup. Its that reason alone why I don't think much of the Oilers prospects, especially their forward prospects. If you can't make that squad, you aren't an NHLer, most of their bottom 6 wouldn't make any team in the NHL.

Well in Mclouds defense, not many 2nd round picks make it on to an NHL team out of the draft. I just looked, two players have played, 1 played 2 games and the other played 22 games, so he can develop.
Our bottom 6 suck, but the can kill penalties lol
