Hawks don't want term. They'll take Manning, Granlund, and Gagner off your hands.

There isn't a reality where the Hawks get Samorukov without eating term. Russell expires the same year Saad does, fills a hole now, and represents $2M in cap savings.

I could do Chiasson and one of those names as a dump at minimum, but Russell is key to getting this done imo.

I would rather just keep Khaira for the playoffs, the first round is brutal if we somehow get lucky and make it.

Based on his play as of late, I'd rather not keep him strictly to throw the body. He's been an incredible liability when he's been anywhere near the puck.
Copenhagen liked this.

Samorukov isn't really of interest anyways. Hawks have several LD in the system with the emergence of Gilbert, there's really no need to acquire Samorukov.

Khaira is a weird player.. 2 years ago I really thought he had a chance of being 2nd line power forward now feels like he should be a scratch on most nights. Still has flashes of the aggressive power forward with skill but most games he just plays like a wet noodle

you are correct, I dont think he has been giving a specific roll besides the PK, he needs that and he also needs to stay on the 4th line. The only reason I keep him is for the playoffs........ thats it! Those first rounds are brutal, bench him after that.

I think this year is a write off, I doubt we see any picks or prospects moved. This team will be picking in the top 10 again, I fear.

The best moves that will make the biggest impact I feel include:

1 Keep JP and see if he will sign next season, staple him to Connor and acquire a LW to play with them; perhaps it is an NHL-acclimatized Nygard. Maybe it is Benson....

2. Sign Hall and play him with Leon. LD is getting his head kicked in at 5v5.

3. Get an NHL calibre back-up Goalie. Smith is done, it's been clear since early November.

Also, I agree 1000%, Bear needs to be the PP QB.

Saad is worth more then that especially at the TDL. Russell kills the deal.
