Hindsight is a funny thing. At the time of the draft, it was Patrick / Heischer battling for #1OA. No one would’ve seen flyers drafting Petterson (or makar)

canucks were questioned for taking pettersson even where he was and the entire city was shocked too. I remember wanting Vilardi as a canucks fan and had no clue who pettersson was, which was a common consensus here. I'm certainly glad we picked him!

Unnecessary. I wish I could downvote posts.

Patterson was listed around 10 overall. He was a real fringe guys when he walk on the podium and put the canuck jersey. Inthibk that he was under 150 pound. He really came in the spotlight the years after in sweden when he started dominating. No one could have predict what happened next

Exactly! Every team could make so many “hindsight” posts.

Yeah totally agree. If the nhl would change the draft age just by 1 years draft would be completely different.

To be fair Patrick's concussions are whats hindering him it seems, and i guess they go back a few years before the draft, and i dont remember much talk about them. So Philly basically was sold broken goods, but he could have been better than what he is, if he didnt have the brain injuries. But maybe im just talking out my ass, who knows

Guys like McDavid, Matthews, etc... that are a league above their draft class wouldn’t change, but besides those select few players the NHL draft would be completely different. Never really thought about that. Cool idea! cheers

at the time of the draft there was rumblings of Makar might sneak in the top 2, which would have landed Heiskanen with the Avs bc Dallas would have taken Patrick or Nico.
But as what usually happens, the top picks happen as they are meant to be and the shuffling of the draft didnt happen
