On the the plus side engvall looks pretty darn good

He's looks really good! Great 7th round find...finding a player that looks that good in the 7th round is like finding gold.

And then a stretch in 2018-2019, and then a stretch in 2019-2020

If you want to get technical, Nugent-Hopkins played LW for McDavid:

14 games in 2017-18, from March 10 to April 7
17 games in 2018-19, from October 6 to November 11, plus 7 more on December 22nd, January 20 and 22, February 27, March 4, 7 and 21 for 24 total games spread throughout the year
    1 game in 2019-20 on December 20

That's it. He played wing for Draisaitl December 10, 2019 and January 2, 4 and 6: 4 games total. Out of Edmonton's last 209 games Nugent-Hopkins has played wing in just 20% of them. This season, he's played wing for just 11% of the games.

Your statement "he's been playing wing for a while" is flat out incorrect.

Since November 11, 2018 the Oilers have played 110 games. Nugent-Hopkins played wing in 12 of those games. hEs BeEn PlAyInG wInG fOr a wHiLE nOw nod

Reilly's been having an off-year, and it's definitely a combination of things.

hes injured and people are lower on him because of what he did last season. he put up around 70 points and would never replicate his on ice shooting percentage, it was time to sell high on him. he hast ever had a good partner but he has never been good defensively

It's an incredibly stupid mentality to believe that if a player has an exceptional year that he needs to be traded.

I disagree. what he did wasnt sustainable and he most likely wont have that kind of season again. They could have traded rielly for someone who is better then him because his value was high at the time. buy low sell high is just common sense. they could have traded rielly for jaccob slavin and Carolina would have had to add to that trade. its stupid that teams are keeping players based off past performances. everyone in the leafs organization should have known that he wasnt going to score around 20 goals again, they should have traded him for someone better then him while GM's thought rielly would replicate his performance

The problem with this line of thinking is that it's certain that most other teams would be thinking the same about Rielly. Sure, Rielly did have a great 70 point season but how many other GMs are also considering if that type of production is unsustainable? Additionally, Rielly isn't exactly an outlier in the NHL, there are a ton of other guys who have a similar playing style. "Buy low sell high" only works when what you're selling has an increased demand based on a low supply, not when your defensemen has a outlier season so you demand a king's ransom. You can't rationalize every hockey trade is some economic circumstance.

Matthews didn't school a defensive player in open ice and the goaltender to create the goal. That McDavid goal will be in the season's top highlights. Please don't try to compare McDavid and Matthews ever again.

That goal was a 6-3 goal, and he just hotdogged celebrated it like he won a Stanley Cup.

Good, because it was beautiful and top 5 goals of the season. Just like the way Michael Jordan used to celebrate after schooling another team, it's great for the fans and adds to the sport IMO.

The next closest example of that kind of "sportsmanship" from another Elite superstar, would be when Ovie scored a goal laying his on back the ice with a backhand shot against the 'Yotes against a former Leaf backup goalie Tellqvist. Now you thought comparing Matthews to McDavid was an insult, how's McDavid hotdogging like Ovie make you feel >?

A bonus of that clip was Gretzky was in the building to watch that goal too.

McDavid is the best player in the game, he celebrating a goal that very few players can make as they don't have the skill McDavid does I personally welcome it. I'm betting McDavid is a top 10 greatest of all time when he's done, let's enjoy watching him and not be critical because your feelings are hurt.

I think Morgan Reilly feelings are hurt worse than mine. Sadly McDavid will have to keep playing at this level for another decade before anyone will remember him more than Crosby or Ovie.

I was wrong about Great 8's scoring the Falling Down Goal, the 'Yotes goalie was Brian Boucher, though I'm pretty sure Tellqvist had played in that game too. You can see Gretzky's reaction behind the bench coaching the 'Yotes, he was like "damn this kid is better than me".
