Oilers decline. Kovalchuk can no longer keep up with the pace of play in the NHL. He can go back to the KHL next year

Now don't get offended but I fail to see how Petry is an upgrade over Ceci? Petry is -115 career and is consistently a minus player year after year after year

If you've watched any of the games this week, you'd have seen speed isn't a problem for Kovalchuk. Kovalchuk will go somewhere, so if the Oilers don't want him, no worries. He will be playing somewhere as he's still pretty good.

Petry to the Leafs would cost Ceci 2020 2nd rd pick + Nick Robertson minimum

Would accept that for Weber, he's Elite, but if we are truly rebuilding, he has to go. Otherwise it makes no sense to trade him.

I'd imagine we will get more than that for Tatar, but nonetheless, it's a fair trade.

Petry starts with a 1st round pick and then you still have to add. We aren't giving him to a rival for a 2nd round pick. That makes no sense.

Kovalchuk trade looks good.
