While I do see why you'd think that, also note that a year from now those value evaluations are not going to stand due to both of them being pending UFAs. By that point you'd be lucky to get prospects like Dellandrea in exchange to the players.

I do think Petry is a good defenseman but at 32 I can't see Dallas giving up a 19yr old with that much potential for him.

I usually agree with all you say around here but you're stating that Sekera and Comeau are added for cap reasons knowing fully that they hold little to no value in this trade. Dellandrea (as good as he is) isn't filling the biggest need in the prospect pool of Montreal with a lot of centers being drafted in the previous 3 drafts so I don't sense a lot of interest from Bergevin for this.

If you want Petry and Tatar for Dellandrea, a 1st, Honka and two dudes added for cap reasons well remove the retained salary on Petry, you take the whole thing. Then you'll remove the late picks and you'll need to send a sweetener to eat 6.3M$ for 2 aging vets.

Petry + Tatar for Dellandrea, Honka, 2020 1st (Shifts to 2021 of you make the playoffs), Sekera, Comeau, Eriksson and a 2021 2nd (The last two being the sweetener). This trades makes little sense for both sides and makes none happy. You'd be better to trade the vets for late picks to someone else and to be fair pretty sure we'd take Robertson over Dellandrea in this deal.

Not too shabby. Could work. I think ultimately, the Habs if shopping both guys could get more individually and that's what is holding some people off but if the offers for both are somewhat underwhelming, I'd be happy with this.
