@F50marco - can I report stupidity or is that not allowed? ^ ^
Also @redw1n9s

I mean, there literally is a report button.... Use it if you feel something is against the rules of the site. Unfortunately "stupidity" isn't an infraction worthy offense just because you don't like the other persons opinion. Chalk it up to having differing opinions, guys. The name calling however ends here. Keep it civil or don't post at all.

I will say though, I see a lot of insulting and "trying to have the last laugh" comments but not a whole lot of facts backed up by numbers/data to support either of your claims.....

That's fair. I can easily bring up advanced metrics that show AA is far from a 3rd liner.. I'm still waiting for the proof that he is not (without using +/-).

AA is probably on Dzingel's level. Can play anywhere on the top 3 lines. But not this year's Dzingel. I think AA isn't a 3rd liner, I say more like a 2nd liner but not the top player on the 2nd line. So, like a 5-6th best forward on a good team

You still don't understand how one doesn't need to be an EDM fan to comment on the Oilers??? Wowwwwwwww.....

Depends on the team I guess, but I'd say he's 7th best forward on Detroit, which is the worst team in the league by far. So that's hardly a ringing endorsement.

I think Detroit has been horrible so some players just give up trying. Hes probably a 3rd liner on Carolina or Boston or the Leafs

I can't agree with that. I'd take either of those guys before AA and I suspect so would most teams. Let's see what my friend @PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood has to say! grin

I'm okay with that comparison even though all 3 are completely different players.

7th best FWD on DET is laughable and to suggest he's worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder is even worse. AA is an elite skater and puck handler. Teams around the league know that (as does Yzerman). On a team with talent, especially at center, he would be an absolute monster.

Well we've already established you don't watch the Red Wings and have no idea what you're talking about.

Seems he's talking about one thing you are talking about another and its not going anywhere so I don't see the point in all of this. Any of the things I felt were against the rules have been deleted. The rest is within the rules my friend. Either engage as per the rules or leave it alone.

Thank you. He also seems to lack the ability to see my simple point so that's where this problem arises.

Yeah +/- is a ridiculous stat that should never be used to determine how good a player is or bad he is

I haven't seen anyone use +/- in this thread, have you?

I don't think any reasonable Wings fan would argue that AA is above 7th best forward in their system. Which of these guys do you say AA is better / more valuable than?

Larkin
Mantha
Bertuzzi
Fabbri
Zadina
Veleno*
Rasmussen*

* These guys aren't on the roster this year (although they likely will be next year) so you could make an argument that AA is the 6th best forward on the worst team in the league.

I don't think he's far off. AA has elite speed and decent skill. I think both AJ and Kap may be a little more versatile but AA is a good get as well. Not sure I'd do the trade above, seems pretty steep for a 2nd line winger.

Only reason those guys may have more value is because they have played with far better teams and players all of their careers.

On a good team he may not have the opportunities he gets in Detroit. Kapanen is producing similar numbers while playing 3rd line minutes. I think AA is a good player though, definitely not near the level of Nylander but he's a 2nd line player on a lot of teams. Good guy to have around.

I don't think they have more value. I think they are all around the same level of value. Kap has more likely since he's 2 years younger but they are all good players.
