Oh he would. Holland will trade 1st round picks if he thinks it will help his team in the playoffs. Trust me, I'm a Detroit Fan. I know.

A 1st Round pick that turned out to be Andrei Vasilevskiy for Kyle Quincey still pains me. And it was Steve Yzerman who talked him into that great deal too!

Not gonna happen. Even if the oilers were interested in giving up a first round pick then there are better players we could get with it than AA

So one time nearly a decade ago while under intense pressure from ownership to make the playoffs Holland traded a first round pick and that means he will do it again on a team that he’s said multiple times he’s not interested in trading this years first with because there were no expectations of making playoffs this year? LOL, K!!!

That time he traded a 1st and a B Prospect once for Robert Lang.
That time he traded a 1st for Mathieu Schneider.

And you really think Edmonton has no expectations of making the playoffs? They have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl in their primes. Edmonton's made the playoffs ONCE in the last 13 years. Trust me, there's pressure to make the playoffs and go deep in Edmonton.

LOL K!!!!!!

You need to stop masquerading as someone that knows the situation in Edmonton lol. Comparing moves made with players that have been retired for a very very long time does not prove your point.

Ken Holland is on the first year of a five year contract, they came into this season not even knowing for sure if McDavid would be playing and leaving some of their prospects that would make the team better in the AHL to develop for another year. They were not tanking but this was a transitional year from Chiarelli to Holland.

It’s complete lunacy to think you’re getting a first round pick from Edmonton for AA. Sure he’s a player they may have interest in but you’re embarrassing yourself being so dead set thinking AA is going to bring that much back.

Oh my god this is an insufferable train of thought.

You do realize that was pretty clearly under the demand of Red Wings ownerhship. I saw a comparison of his moves before the death of the owner to after and it’s pretty clear what was going on there.

Hockey personnel also change over time, you’re talking about things he did a decade ago, when he was surrounded by different people than he’s surrounded by now.

You go educate yourself and then “get back to us” whatever the H that means.

Oh boy, aren't you a rose colored glasses wearing kind of oaf. Nielsen, Abbdelkader, Ericsson, Howard, Green, Helm (LOL). All signings in the last few years. Go look at his draft record on HockeyReference site. The Oilers are doomed. Go educate yourself on Kenny Holland.

Again you seem to have ignored the part where moves like those basically stopped after the owner died and they missed the playoffs. I don’t know how you’re not comprehending that, I don’t want to say anything that’s going to get me an infraction from a mod but there are lots of explanations for it but they would get me an infraction lol

These trades and horrible contracts are Ken Hollands track record as a GM. If a track record doesn't mean anything, then go hire Peter Chiarelli, totally fine as track records don't mean anything.

Here's a quote from January 20th from Ken Holland. “You know, I was on the flipside in ‘05-06, when I was with the Red Wings. We had 126 points, we played the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the playoffs. They traded a first-round draft pick at the deadline for Rollie the Goalie (Dwayne Roloson) … and we got bounced in the first round by the eighth seed. You don’t really ever know. You’ve just got to get in.

What he's saying there is the 8th seed traded a 1st round pick for a player that was a difference maker and defeated us. This dude HAS and WILL trade 1st round picks if he thinks it will give his team an edge in the playoffs. Maybe not for AA but you're delusional if you think Edmonton's 1st round pick is not on the table.

First of all that’s some impressive mental gymnastics to get that take away from that quote.

Second if you wanna play around and take what Holland has said in the media as gospel then the first round pick is definitely not on the table, you can’t have it both ways lol.

And again, this is a pointless discussion because AA isn’t worth a first

Cool, I hope you're right and Ken Holland doesn't care if the Oilers miss the playoffs for the 13th time out of 14 years.
