I should have said great, he was simply a slightly above average forward from 2019-21. He's having a "breakout year" in his late 20's which is not sustainable.

I mean cmon man. Dude broke 20 goals once 4 seasons ago and has never broken 40 points. That's a bottom 6 player on a good team all day long. He has nice possession numbers, cool so he's a good 3rd liner. You need those guys. Problem is, they are way more common than a Bertuzzi

I have no idea what a trade for Chychrun from Detroit would even look like, but I can assure you that other teams will have better offers. The price we would have to pay to outbid those other teams would likely not be worth it. Plus I want to keep our 2023 1st for Bedard szn

top 6 winger plus some toughness
I don't love Poulin as a prospect, but this is much closer to what the real asking price would be. Top prospect, 1st, good young defensemen, plus a sweetener. Would hate to see Bertuzzi as a Penguin, but this could be accepted.

Bertuzzi to PIT
This is not a good return for Detroit. We are trading away a young cost controlled point per game player for a middle six winger and middle pair defenseman the same age as him, and a B level prospect plus a second. If we trade Bertuzzi, it is because Yzerman believes his age does not fit with our cup window, so we will be looking for prospects that fit with Raymond/Seiders window, or first round picks. That's it.

LOL the original trade is bad, but this might be worse. Wings would never pay Raymond + 2022 first, and if they did, Hawks should run. Saying you wouldn't accept is ridiculous at best

I'd be very willing to shell out a 3rd for Monahan, and possibly a 2nd if that's what it takes. Is he overpaid? Yes, but he has also been very good not that long ago. Even if Monahan returns to a 40 pt player, he is still statistically better that what we would likely get from a 2nd/3rd. And if he returns to form, its a huge bonus. If not, its only 1 more year on his deal. We can afford it.

Turcotte Vilardi Kupari
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>M_Swann</b></div><div>I'd say Edvinsson for Turcotte, but Wings also need LD so maybe it's not a fit?
If Kings would agree to a Turcotte-Bertuzzi swap, I'd do that if I were Yzerman.</div></div>
Yea I forgot to include Edvinsson on my no trade list, I don't consider him an option right now.
I consider Bertuzzi apart of our core, and would not trade him for any of those prospects, which is why I included him on the no-trade list. I would only be willing to move him for a more guaranteed 2C, as trading for any of these 3 guys comes with a lot of risk. If Bertuzzi is what it takes to get a Turcotte deal done, then there is no deal here to be had. I like Turcotte's upside, I'm just worried he could turn out to be a wing at the NHL level, which we don't really need.

If the kings can’t find that, there is no reason to trade any of those players because they are also being played at wing.</div></div>
Hronek sort of fits that bill, except he plays the right instead of the left.
Unlike a lot of fans, I'm willing to shop Hronek if the right fit is there for a potential 2C. Do you see any potential here at all in that regard? Where does Turcotte project in your mind?

LMAOO nobody is paying that cost for Eichel. The reported asking price is rumored to be around 3 first round picks or equal value. Veleno is a very good prospect/former first rounder, and Fabbri is a young contributor right now. I can see how im a little lower but your asking price is literal insanity. Not even saying Eichel isnt worth that, but nobody is giving up 4 potential top6 players 5 years younger than Eichel.

Merrill will be playing games over Staal and Biega. I don't know what you did with Nielsen but he'll probably (hopefully*) be in the pressbox as well. And I think we'll see Fabbri at center at some point, but I doubt it's opening night. I think it's more likely Namestnikov get's the nod at center to start that 2nd line, or God forbid Filppula again.

PHI moves
Gostisbehere is one player that still generally intrigues me. But for his contract and his quality of play the past two years, that's a bit rich for me. I don't view Gost as a pure cap dump and I don't think Philly does either, which is why you guys haven't moved him yet. But there's a reason he's still with Philly, and that's because a deal like this doesn't exist. If it did, he would be gone. That said, I would probably do it for a 2022 4th, although I may be in the minority here. It's too late now I think, if he was going to be moved it was going to happen before free agency.

Realistic fire sale
Here's my take on the Palat trade: from a Red Wings perspective it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He's a fine player don't get me wrong, and this trade would definitely improve our team. And depending on how much you value Svechnikov, it's basically for free. Personally I still have some hope for Svech so I don't consider it free, but some might. But I don't think there's anyone arguing that Detroit technically "wins" this trade, at least as of now. Despite this, I still wouldn't do it mainly because I just don't want Palat. I don't see how he would be useful in the long run. He most likely would not be a key piece of our team moving forward, so I don't really see why trading assets for him to basically, in my eyes, take up a roster spot, makes a lot of sense for us. That's what free agency is for, and we did that with Ryan and Namestnikov, signing them to much better deals the what Palat has, and we didn't have to spend assets to get them. If we're going to spend assets on anything, I want it to be on pieces that actually have a chance to be contributors to our team 3, 4 years from now. And admittedly, those are very few and far between. Otherwise for me, I'm just gonna stay away, keep my picks, keep drafting, keep developing, and keep the roster open for guys like Lucas or Berggren or anyone else that may pop up and demand a spot. On top of all that, we are taking Palat from a Tampa team that is currently in the depths of cap hell. I'd pay for BriseBois gas if he wants to personally drive him up here, but that's about as much as I'd pay for Palat. And that's no disrespect to the player. I just don't see why we need him.
