So we barely upgrade on defense (Larsson has been atrocious last 2 years) and highly downgrade on offense? Hm..

I like the idea but think kapanen has a little more value than Larsson. If you took out chiasson and Johnson or added a 2nd to the deal it would be closer. Regardless of what TO fans think Larsson would fit that team well. They need someone defensive, with grit and toughness. They really only have muzzin there for that and none of their stars have any 2 way capabilities, so Larsson would provide value.

Larsson has lower value than Kapanen, but he would be a good fit on Leafs. So I would do Johnsson for Larsson and Bracco+Ceci for Puljujarvi. What you say?

Just a bad trade for the Leafs. Lose on the ice this year and certainly for years of control Leafs lose.

Larsson <<<< Kapanen
Puli <<<< Edmonton
Chaisson for Ceci doesn't matter both players are inconsequential

Larsson for Kappy= Heavy Edmonton favour
Pulj for Johnsson= Edmonton favour. Toronto has no use for a guy who can't play right now, leaves a huge lineup hole.
Chiasson for Ceci= Toronto has no use for Chiasson and Ceci will play as well as Larsson is, so Edmonton favour.

See a pattern here?

so larson is ok but not worth what toronto is giving up now swap him out for Nurse with a new contract and you have a deal. pulj cant even play in the nhl and chiasson is garbage just like ceci, so the deal without Nurse is total garbage.

That is a myth. TO is one of 2 teams that have 2 guys in the top ten in takeaways this season. Which is a good marker for two way play. Matthews is 4th and Marner is tied for 6th. Toughness is a missunderstood thing in this day and age. Hitting everyone that moves doesn't mean a player is tough, fighting through those checks and never giving up, winning puck battles and the like is what toughness is. Can this team be tougher? Yes it needs to be, but hitting isn't the answer, its mental toughness.

Mental toughness is still toughness they lack. They are not tough enough means mentally as well. I'm not saying they should all go hit everyone they just need to bare down and fight through better.

Most of that improvement in toughness comes internally, as the players age and mature. Has there ever been a team core this young that wins a stanley cup? When Crosby won his first he was surrounded by vets, Chicago was a mix. On this Toronto team 30 is old. They are improving at all these things internally as they learn to play in the league. Look at Matthews' improvement in the defensive end this year, it comes with time.

Going out and trading for slow old players who hit things and play 10 minutes a night will do absolutely nothing to improve the toughness of your top players and is not going to help you win hockey games. But keep listening to Brian Burke's nonsense narratives. There's a reason the Leafs fired him.

Sinc Keefe took over they have played at a 110 point pace. People on here just don't pay attention to anything and look for reasons to freak out. The Leafs are fine, they have some issues that need to be addressed, like every other team and have had major injuries to deal with. I am not worried.

Thoughness... since they lost Kadri we do see this weaknesses and need a solid forecheck third line that go deep in the zone and beat their D to get more space in the zone.
Zadri was great to go under their skin... and with Muzzin & Reilly down and To still OUT-Playoff today... they need help!

That is all panic and media rhetoric. Florida is on a tear so it Columbus and Philly has been middling all season. TO had a 6 game slide and will have Muzzin back on Monday. They will turn it around and continue to improve. The whole toughness thing is just nonsense

You are probably right... I hope as I want a Canadian team to the cup!
But look at Tampa... and To last season... they didn't last long unfortunately.
