Bowen Byram

Created by: yanleg96
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 18, 2020
Published: Feb. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With the standings today and without the lottery you can projected that MTL pick 7th and CHI pick 8th.

So basically here you get two good wingers for the end of this year and a depth defenseman for playoffs. Scandella's big and can be rough which is good for playoffs.

All of this come in a package.
- Tatar and early second vs Byram (you lose an A+ asset but still are contender and will be powerful in playoffs with everybody healthly. You dont loose anything this year and they wll help this team to make to playoffs with recent injury of Kadri, Calvert and Rantanen.)

- Kovy, Scandella and early second for jost and 1st round pick. (Jost can flip out to be really great or a depth player)

Wow! This is god awful for Colorado. None of those guys plus a 2nd are worth Byram on their own. You throw in a first and others and this is the worst trade for Colorado. If they trade Byram, it will be for a young NHL forward.

Uh yes he is. Potential top pair d with a great ceiling > kovy who won’t replicate what he’s doing rn anywhere else, Tatar who’s age isn’t helping his value/ make of Colorado, scandella LITERALLY can’t fit in their defence corps and he would be a health scratch, same with kovy (no room). So yes Byram is much more valuable. The picks added to change that. If I’m a GM who has Colorado’s Team id rather Byram than that group.

its more like

Byram
1st in 2020

for

Tatar
Suzuki
1st 2021
2nd 2020
2nd in 2020

IF you want an impact youth piece you have to give up one
Suzuki's proven he's more then capable of stepping up while those around him outside Tatar have not during an injury plagued season.
MTL is effectively trading their 2 best forwards as future and present stars along with 1st and two 2nd picks for Byram and a 1st a year earlier when they host in MTL

Tatar has value as does Suzuki
but lets be real Byram is a Drew Doughty level future star in the NHL so lets respect that no teams giving him away without a deal that suits them today ,tomorrow and years down the line.

Here take some ok stuff, some crap stuff, and some stuff we pulled out of the recycle bin, now give us the best defensive prospect arguably in the league, a 1st rd pick and a 21 yr old center. Seriously do fans believe crap like this would fly?

Hell no. Tatar is a nice player but star no. Suzuki, mhhh id rather have Newhook. Colorado already has a top offense, thank you very much I’ll take a d of Makar, Byram, Girard, Graves, Timmins, and fill in the blank for the next 7 yrs than what would be at best with the Avs as a 2nd line winger, and a 3rd line center.

Allright you do you, but in medium long term its difficult in my mind to see this team win the cup after next year because you'll have to resign so many important pieces and not at any price or cheap prices. Example like graves, zadorov burakovsky, jost, nishuskin, kamenev, Makar,Kaut. Please dont tell me that byram will play on first pair next year and that you think he'll be awesome and play great defensively. Waht happen if yes he put 60 pts but cost you a lot of goals in the other hand, you are not in rebuild and offensive wins seasons but defensiive wins championship. But put also big contracts with grubaeur (3.33 but will ask more), landeskog (5.6m), girard (5m), Mckinnon (6.3m) and rantanen (9.25m), this doesn't let you a lot of space on the cap to resign a lot of those guys. Heres the question you want a cup or saw games with spectacular offensive (Makar, Byram)
