In isolation, the value is there, but there are too many objections to the Anaheim trade that make it unrealistic. First, Getzlaf has an absolute no-movement clause and has declared that he wants to spend his declining years here in the sun. Second, as your colleagues have noted, there would be little sympathy for trading away your 2020 first. Third, there are wildly differing evaluations of Ristolainen and Mittelstadt in various corners, which make it difficult to reach a decision. Some people think Ristolainen is a prime top-4 RhD, while others think he's a defensive disaster. Some people think Mittelstadt is as good as Florida's number one center prospect Henrik Borgstrom, while others are already talking about him as a bust. I notice that unlike most first-round picks from his draft class, Mittelstadt is frequently the subject of trade constructions; for example, 3 of the 10 Buffalo posts today (counting your two versions as one) move him elsewhere, which is hardly a sign of confidence.

Getzlaf isn’t what he’d used to be
U make this kind of trade if it makes us a legit Cup Contender
But this doesn’t get us there
Especially with the same goaltending in place
