100% Leafs make that trade, but I cannot Vegas offering up that sort of package for a pure rental.

I would expect any deal involving a 1st would require an extended Barrie.

Just heard this trade rumour today. I would assume that Vegas would also need Barrie to resign long-term with them for the deal to be agreed upon.

Yeah, my thought here is that if that came with an extention attached, sure, then that deal would make more sense. I really like Hague as a prospect, and that 1st helps the Leafs potentially draft Justin Barron, who has had his draft stock plummet because of injury.

Agree. I will have to check out this Justin Barron and would be probably best if Leafs held on to the first round pick. Alternatively, the Leafs could also use the First Round Draft pick obtained plus some roster players like Hague, Lililgren, Dermott, Johnsson, Kerfoot to trade for Manson on the Ducks.

I think it makes sense for teams to be interested, and it makes sense for the leafs to look to move him. 2nd rounder and a decent prospect is the kind of value I’m thinking, this 1st + stuff is bananas.

The Leafs need to turn their unsigned UFA's into some assets whether its players, prospects or draft picks. Maybe this is where Leafs made a mistake in prior years in letting too many good UFA's walk for nothing such as Gardnier, JVR, Bosak, Komorov etc.....instead of trying to win a playoff round. Leafs would be much stronger now if some of those players were turned into assets.

The knights want an extension if they are to trade for him so the Leafs can drive up the price a bit, this might be a bit too much though.

Yeah, not sure if Knights would go for the first round draft choice. However, an extended Barrie is just the type of player the Knights need going forward so it seems like the Knights might be a good trading partner for the Leafs.

At this point, using any futures, whether obtained in selling deals, or what have you, seems like a waste. They should sell now, selling it is always a sellers market at the TDL then bring in a new GM to make smarter decisions.

You are probably right because the Leafs seem to be good at drafting and developing but not really trading. I also think Mark Hunter is still sitting on the sidelines and could be brought back and given his chance as GM if Dubas keeps making mistakes.

What on earth would make you think we would still have that pick at the draft?

Think MG1986 is referring to the Vegas first round pick obtained in the trade for Barrie. The Leafs may also still have their top 10 first round pick if they stumble out of the playoffs.

Barrie is worth a 1st. Look at what other defencemen have been going for

I do not believe Mark Hunter would make a good GM and there are a bunch of NHL teams that agree with me. He is good with drafting and developing and such, but I don't think he's cut for a GM. Ray Shero i s sitting on the sidelines, and I expect he will get an offer from some team shortly, hopefully Toronto.

At least get this team to the draft with high picks in hand, then let them do stuff. Hopefully they will end up with multiple first rounders, but a lot of that is assumptions solely based on the fact this team should be a hard seller.
