Yeah I also think they would, but taking the chance of Lou not wanting to give that much, or struggling to clear cap space to sign Pulock and Toews could be worth it.

The owners would step in if that was the case. They’re not letting their star center go when they have a new arena opening in 2 years. It would have to be something crazy to pry barzal from the isles - 13+ mill

Most fair Drouin trade I’ve seen, but I think Colorado still says no because they don’t have any interest in him, I think they are more interested in Domi or Tartar and MB just asked for more than they were willing to give at the TDL.

Cap won't be $88m. Ignore what Daly said, escrow is still a thing the players hate and the only tool they have to fight it right now is limiting the cap increase. I wouldn't be surprised to see it only increase to $83.5m or so.

Or $84.5M which is where most thought it would be at the start of the season.

Ok but I can't see NYI letting him go for anything less than 4 1sts

That's certainly more likely than an $88m cap. I'm just wondering how long it will be for them to confirm an actual number or do we get a repeat of last year where SJ signed Karlsson and NYR signed Trouba to big money deals before the actual cap was announced to be less than they previously suggested.
