This trade gives the Wild a legitimate 1st line superstar winger who is very young and cost-controlled for the next few seasons, and then still retains his rights to resign or trade.
This trade gives Boeser the ability to play at home and be close to his family as his father struggles with a very hard fight with cancer.

This trade gives the Canucks a legitimate 1st pairing defensive-defenseman to play alongside Quinn Hughes. Dumba's strong two-way play and overall skill is a huge step up from Tanev, he is younger than Tanev, is still cost-controlled for the next few years, and should provide similar defensive balance with far more offensive punch to the Canucks back end.
This trade gives Dumba the chance to play with two of the premier young talents in the NHL, and play on a defensive pairing that could be the best in the NHL for years to come.

As a Canuck follower Tanev is not a guy we're looking to replace. Myers would be. So basically, if the Canucks can get good pieces in a deal for Myers, this deal would be considered. But not before. Keeping Boeser and resigning Tanev is much better for us than trading effectively both for Dumba.

His Dad isn't looking good right now, and doesn't have much time to live unfortunately. Barrie is a UFA in the offseason so we can sign him. We aren't giving Boeser away. This is an overextension, Benning blocks the Minny GM and laughs hysterically of the value.

Barrie isn’t upgrade to Tanev in anyway but perhaps as a PP quarterback. But the Canucks have Hughes on PP1 and Myers on PP2. I’m not high on Myers, but he is better than Barrie in just about every way aside from pure offensive play, but barrier is worse 5-on-5 than Myers, he can’t help on the PK, and is redundant on the PP. plus he’s not a 1pairing guy on the Canucks.

Benning would be insane to sign him, period, let alone for what some team will give him this summer.
