Either Davidsson is a 10 bell prospect or Pittsburgh is taking this deal in the ass.

I don't see DeSmith as a better option to split the net with Hogberg than Nilsson is. Desmith is a backup, and Nilsson has shown in his time with Ottawa he can be a 1B, which is a better fit for an inexperienced goalie like Hogberg. He's capable of taking a bulk of the starts, but he still leaves the door open for Hogberg to steal the net. I don't think you're going to be able to play Desmith 40+ games if needed, and that puts more pressure on Hoggy.
