Saving $10M in cash expenditures is easy. Replacing Hoffman with Tippett next year covers almost half of that ($4.725M) all on its own. From there Tallon has options: letting Dadonov walk and signing Denisenko is one, moving Stralman's $5.5M salary is another - especially since Weegar has shown the ability to play in the top-4. They almost certainly won't retain UFA Pysyk this summer either, removing his $3.5M salary from the books.
Barkov only gets paid $4.75M next year, he isn't going to get traded just to save a few bucks.
