Doesn't really make sense for Minn....especially with Fleury coming off a terrible year.

I guess it depends on your view of Krebs. I see him as someone with the talent to become a 1C and a coveted asset. Fleury was better than both our goalies last year and while he is on the decline his contract would line up perfectly to pass the reigns to Kahkonen in a year/year and a half. How would your view change if I swapped Holden for Hague? Would that be too much coming from Vegas?

I think that definitely changes it a good bit.

Stalock is certainly trash (I'd argue Dubnyk is worse) , but he also costs nothing. Fleury is certainly an upgrade to what you currently have but at 7 mil his value is at best neutral and more likely negative.

Couldn't you just pay Khudobin or someone half as much as Fleury to be your starter and save assets?

I don't think it's a bad trade in theory, but spending 11 mil on 2 below average goalies is just terrible asset mgmt. If you drop the goalies, it gets tighter.

Don't agree with Stalock being trash, he carried our team in net the last half of the season. Can he keep that up? Doubt it, but he's at worst an average backup on an extremely cheap deal. Signing a goalie would be ideal but you're forgetting that players hardly ever sign 1 year deals unless they have something to prove, and then it's a risk if they actually work out or not. We all know Fleury is good. That's why he's kind of the perfect stop-gap since he'd keep things afloat and keep our owner happy. Yeah his salary isn't great but we have tons of space to take it on. $11m on goalies is a lot but it's only for 1-2 years and as I mentioned before that is the perfect time line for Kahkonen to step in and be a starter.

I’d rather see them trade for a guy like Raanta. He’s a good goalie on a one year deal. Has had a pretty good year. Plus the price tag looks a lot better than Fleury

Krebs was the real centerpiece for this trade. I don't see the Coyotes moving any of their centers unless they magically win a lottery pick and draft a center this year.

OK just trying to help.

Here are the above mentioned goalies over the last 2 seasons.

Who said anything about centers? I know they have some good guys there but I’d rather have problem with a position of strength than not having enough centers or in your case goalies.

I did, that was the whole point of the trade: acquire a player that could become a 1C and also grab a stop-gap goalie in the process.

My fault I need the post wrong. I think you have a pretty good center coming up in Khovanov. He’s second in scoring in the WHL behind Lafreniere I believe. But if you’d want a ready to go center in the league now I think you’d have to give up a guy like Dumba or Brodin (if they don’t sign him long term). If that’s the direction they want to go. They just got Addison and he should be coming up soon. So maybe the biggest strength you could get as far as value would be them. Maybe something like Dumba being a centerpiece with a decent prospect for maybe someone like DeBrincat and Raanta. But this is just spitballing

All good! Love Khovanov, he's my favorite prospect not named Kaprizov. Still think we need another center though, and I agree completely that Dumba or Brodin will have to be moved to get one. Someone like Strome makes a lot of sense for us if Chicago moves him. I also have been eyeing Mittelstadt on the Sabres, he has tons of talent. Not sure if either of those teams could give us a stop-gap goalie though

Problem is CHI has tons of Dmen and no goalies (Crawford is a UFA and Subban isn’t your solution) Mittelstadt is a guy I feel like he needs a change of scenery. Maybe the other Strome in NY might be a fit and they have Georgiev, but aren’t sure they wanna let him go. Either one of the dman would possibly work with them. Lots of cap problems though

The problem with trading Stalock is MN would have to expose goalie KK in the expansion draft. They have no other goalie eligible.

Fleury would still be under contract... So we just expose him instead

Maybe, but probably not since they're giving up Krebs

That could work.

I'd rather take a flier on a UFA goalie for a season, than have MAF and his $7m contract though. But if the cost of getting Krebs is taking on MAF's contract then I'd probably be okay with it.

He was the centerpiece of the deal. So for me, no Krebs means no deal
