I think Tavares is better than Scheifele but WPG says no. They don’t want a guy with a NMC signed through his 30s.

I don't see why the Jets would do this, Tavares might be a little better but he definitely isn't $5M better.

Over the Past 5 season their numbers are extremely similar. Tavares is better in the faceoff circle by a significant margin hut Scheifele shooting pourcentage is extremely good compared to Tavares. Both have good possession number. The main difference between these 2 players are the Salary who which Scheifele is a lot more advantageous. The age need to be consider too.

As a Leafs fan

A) I don't see Dubas moving JT after making a huge splash for him. It just doesn't make sense it'll hurt him in future negotiations imo for both FA's and other GM's in trades.
B) Imo JT is just a LITTLE better than Scheifele, and has a considerably higher cap hit. He's also 2 years older so I don't see Winnipeg trading Scheifele for him even with Dermott added to the trade, Scheifele's just too valuable to the Jets.
C) I don't think LA does that as they're clearly in a rebuild they might trade Roy but I doubt for an older RHD in Holl. Plus Holl was just re-signed and was playing solid minutes beside Muzzin I don't think it makes sense to trade Holl right after rewarding him for his play. I think next year that can be a really solid shutdown pair if both stay healthy.
D) As much as I like the Hawks trade, I don't think Chicago will do it firstly because of the inconsistency of Freddy's play last season, and secondly because Crow is going to be back for them next season. I'd love to see Murphy on the Leafs though and Kubalik makes a lot of sense considering we desperately need that LW that'll just put the puck in the net. Kubalik would be a massive upgrade on Johnsson. The Nylander addition would be cool too with both on the same line too.
E) Kapanen should get you more than just a 2nd.
