Eichal was excellent but it’s tough giving the hart to a player whose team is still a bottom feeder in the league

Kuemper didn’t play enough game, i mean even if he had oustanding number he didn’t even start half of the team game.

Well considering the Sabres are:
5-15-2 when Eichel doesn’t record a point.
6-17-1 when he has one point
8-2-2 when he has two points
5-0 when he has three points
4-0 when he has four points
So he really needs to get two points for his team to win games.

Im not denying his impact, but pretty much every hart winner is on a playoff team. It’s a matter of politics

I understand it but if he had another impact winger that can drive the play better I really believe he would have the most points in the league. He gets double teamed by a lot of teams when he gets the puck.

I mean I disagree there. Maybe he could win an art ross, but he wouldn’t consistently be a top scorer in the league

Lots of people picking Rask, and don't get me wrong he had an outstanding year as well as deserves a ton of recognition, but yes obvious choice is Hellebuyck,

Mcdavid winger where Josh Archibald and Zach Kassian Mackinnon had seen Rantanen and Landeskog miss half of the season. Don’t use that argument, he isn’t the lnly one in that situation. Almost every players who touch the puck in the defensive zone are double team now. There always a players to came in support in most systems. But still i think Eichel deserved at least a few vote because Buffalo is so bad. The lack of depth is terrible and if eichel don’t produced at a 2ppg rate Buffalo can’t win a game.

Yes. They should make 2 awards. Best Player in the League, and then the Hart. I think the best player is a good award to have because if is more based off of pure skill. The Hart then could be given to the most valuable to their team.
On a different note, Eichel is a top 4 player in the league, watching him is one of the best and most patient player with AND without the puck. Like Scheifele said, he is a force in both ends of the rink. I think that if he had support on his team he would score as well as everyone else. I think the top 4 player rn in the league for overall impact of game is Eichel, McDavid, Mackinnon, and Crosby. Not in order. I think that those 4 tip the ice the most in their favor when they touch the ice.

I agree with your award idea but I don’t think Eichal is top 4 on the league, as good as he is

Fox>> Merzlinkins.

And this is coming from a CBJ fan. I’d also give Calder to Suzuki before Merzlinkis. Remember Merzlinkins was awful at the a start of the year posing a 6+ GAA and under .850 save %. Then he was amazing when Korpisalo when down and he had all the pressure on him.

Surprised. Haven't seen that. As a Bruins fan, I want Rask to win the Vezina but I know Hellebuyck has been even better. So they're one and two but yeah, Connor has the edge (unfortunately).

Kuemper didn't play enough to be considered for Vezina (in another post I made I did have him as a top 5 goalie in the league though). A case could be made for Bishop, but a case can be made for Vas too, they will both get votes, Vas would be my pick.

I'd rather acknowledge a very good season by a rookie goalie than give my vote to the third best rookie Dman. I would argue Merzlinkis was almost a top 10 goalie in the NHL this year, he is deserving of recognition, he would have my vote for third. On the other hand Hughes is way younger, but age shouldn't necessarily matter. Third is between Hughes and Elvis in my opinion. Kubalak and Suzuki are long shots.

I wouldn't argue with anyone on that, PTS are sexy, to me Hughes has a lot of work to do defensively.

I have no idea how you can justify having Fox or Elvis ahead of Hughes
