JTs stats speak for themselves. And he played with crap on Long Island.

And Eichel plays for Buffalo.

Leadership.

It’s actually spelled, “homerism.”

No way Buffalo makes this trade. Toronto would take this deal and run.

ignore this mans. Matthews vs Eichel is a serious debate (I think Matthews wins but I see the other side), but Eichel blows tavares out of the water. Tavares was not himself this year. This would be an unbelievable trade for the leafs that would set them up ridiculously for the future, I don't know how you could argue otherwise

Trading Liljegren and another 1st round pick, plus Dermott and Johnsson, kills it. Eichel is an upgrade over JT but it's not anything super significant. If we're trading Liljegren OR a 1st rounder it should be for some help on D.

If you want a realistic Eichel to the Leafs trade, never will be realistic, but you send us Marner, you 2021 1st, and Nylander. ( That's not even close)

Dude. We (at least most of us) don't want Eichel. And that offer is just a homer offer.

If you were building a team, you’d want a 30 year old 1C over a 23 year old 1C?

The problem is that neither is a 1C for the Leafs. They already have a 1C who is better than both JT and Eichel. Losing all these assets to "upgrade" a position where they're already strong doesn't feel worth it.

r u kidding? Tavares is gonna decline soon (I'd argue that it has already started). This gives you a 1-2 combo of two of the top 5 young centers in the league for literally the next like 10 years. No brainer move

Nah. Eichel and JT have the same term left on their contracts too I think. Tavares' decline hasn't started yet, he is a usual 70-80 point guy who was on pace for something right around that. I'm good with Tavares, and keeping Liljegren who is a future top-4 D is fine too.

I'm not saying that Eichel isn't better than Tavares, he is. But if we're upgrading, we don't need to upgrade on Tavares. Let's focus on the blueline instead.

agreed that the blue line is more important, but if this deal is available you take it and run. Eichel is significantly better than Tavares today, imagine what the difference will be when he's in his mid 30s and eichel is just hitting his prime.

Tavares production slipped a good amount this year, and he looked slow
