I don't hate the Oilers, its just that RNH has a year left on his deal before a big raise, Nurse is a UFA in a couple of years and Broberg is 100% his replacement and that Andreas really isn;t what the Oilers need. So Turris is the new veteran 3C, Jankrok is the always needed 1 LW at cheap value and Ellis is what Oilers need
Regarding the Oilers players
- RNH likely doesn't get a "big" raise, it's generally thought that it'll be around $1.0 - $1.5M. He also doesn't have to be protected from the Seattle draft due to being a UFA next summer.
- Nurse is a UFA in 2 years, that gives the Oilers plenty of time to negotiate an extension. Also plenty of time to see what they have in their prospect pool; if they like what they see they can trade Nurse at any time.
- Broberg is still only 18, he'll be 20 when Nurse plays his final game of his 2 year deal and probably not ready to take on 1st pairing minutes. That's not a slight on him, Dahlin played a very, very sheltered 3rd pairing role this season as a 19 year old, he won't be getting 1st pairing comp next year either.
- Holland drafted Athanasiou, Holland signed Athanasiou, Holland developed Athanasiou, Holland re-signed Athanasiou, Holland traded for Athanasiou. LOL at your take that after 9 games in Edmonton Holland will suddenly change his mind about the player. Ridiculous.
- Holland values the 1st very highly, he refused to include it on a potential Hall deal with New Jersey last December.
