Also cant see us buying out Schneider it doesnt make any sense. Blackwood should start, Cory is backup done deal....once PK and Cory are off the books thats 15 mill freed up and a good portion will go to Jack.

wow. Barrie contract is awful, and I mean awful. Colorado and Edmonton probably both say no, Buffalo considers.

Let me ask you the following:

A: Does Gusev get extended next year
B: if yes, what does he get paid?

He’s a tough one based on only playing a shortened year. He had a rough start but was really strong down the stretch. I believe his game will age better than palmieri due to the fact he already is a pretty horrendous skater. He relies on his hockey sense and stick handling both which are above average.

I would definitely be on board with resigning him around 5-6 years and 5.75 - 6.5

Now that I bring up palmieri I would also like him to be retained but his contract would be tough. He needs a raise and he’s a year older then goose. However he’s our only “sniper” on the team unless we draft one or two or holts, Perfetti, Gunler, Quinn. Etc. What do you guys think?

He’s 10tth in scoring over the last 5 years. He had a rough year with a new team this year. No d man with his offensive upside has hit the open market in recent years that I can remember. Even Tyler Myers got 6 million last year.

Regardless If you don’t like him or dont want him on the devils he’s going to get paid this summer. Only way I don’t see it is if he opts for a 1 year contact. I lhave heard the potential of players waiting for the salary cap to bump up since it will be flat this offseason. It would also give him another chance at having a season more like his last 2 in Colorado. I have no clue if players are actually thinking about that, it’s only what I’ve read.

What do you think he’s going to get on the open market?

not sure what that has to do with my comment, but yes I would hope so. I would be willing to give him 6 years at 6M aav.

I never said he won't get paid, most big name free agents do. doesn't mean it will be a good contract for someone. he's an offensive d man who's bad defensively, that contract would be Subban 2.0 in years 5,6,7 if not sooner. hard pass, he's not worth that kind of money at all.
