im not too sure but do you think they would take less than market value to get a better 2c or winger

Sure. Everything should be available. Some much more expensive than others...

I don’t follow buffalo much, but what is the need and upgrade in net, secondary scoring and or better blueline or some of all of the above. They are rather close to cap for missing a 24 expanded playoffs year

Small detail, but there is no way they move their pick until draft day if it's something they would consider at all. Gotta see the lotto, then see who's on the board at their pick, then see what can help them immediately. I wouldn't trade the pick tbh. Maybe in a typical draft year, but this top 10 is loaded with top-line upside.

FWIW I'm sure Jack would understand that the draft is the best way to find impact players, especially considering how quickly a top-10 pick can come in and have an impact these days. If I were him, I'd trust the mgmt less if they were willing to move the pick just to get a (likely fading) talent that some other team would be fine giving up.

i guess it just depends on Eichel and if he wants to make the playoffs next year or he's done.

At the end of the day, he is getting 80 million bucks to be the captain of the Sabres. He hates losing just like everyone else, but being short-sighted never really works out. Maybe they can make some moves that don't implicate the 2020 1st if they want to show him that they are fed up too. But as the GM, you can't afford to miss out on drafting a star player because you had to go out and get, say, the age 32-38 years of Logan Couture to keep someone happy.

it did for ryan o' riley. But i agree with you it would be smarter long term to keep the pick

i don’t hate that trade but i think i’d rather use the pick on a higher end 2C like cirelli for mittelstadt and the 7OA pick

To be fair, we have a terrible gm, that is also a lame duck gm, so this year's first, next year's first, prospects that our development team haven't already ruined- they're all in play.
