Heres the thing, I think you get either the sharks retaining or taking a dump back, but not likely both, because this deal gives us 0 salary relief which is kind of the point

But more flexibility, prospects and a pick... all things that are needed in SJ

To be fair, Stastny is more of a cap casualty as he is decent....but too expensive for VGK

I don’t think Vegas makes that trade though. The money would be nice to have, They only really need to move Stastny if they want to go for a big FA like Pietroangelo, or pay 12-15 million for goalies by keeping Lehner.

With a majority of their higher end lineup signed, they can fill the team out with the space they have even with a flat cap.

So basically to move up a round they probably don’t do that.

Also, to be fair, if the Jets beat the Flames, the Eakin trade becomes a 3rd and not the 4th anyway.

But they don’t. Only if they want a big FA. That’s my point.

Nosek
Merrill
Engelland
Reaves will re-sign at roughly half the dollars, not at 2.75
Probably Lehner
Whitecloud cap came down a touch With extension
Holden came down With extension

Left to sign with about 9 mill

Reaves (there is a rumor he is done just not official)
Stephenson RFA (probably around 1.75-2)
Cousins RFA (probably around 1.25)
Backup G (probably someone like Dansk at 750k)

Glass and Hague will probably be on the team on ELCs

I just counted about a 76M of salarys without any signings....did you forget about Tuch?

No. Honestly during our conversation I did an AGM (not posted) for next year and they would have just over 1m in space with 22 guys. So even if they carried an 8th Dman like Bischoff or Schuldt, or an 14th F like Pirri.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating LOL.

Yes....that's correct. Or they use Glass as 2C and get a better backup and have cap room

Possible. My main point was they are going to give him away to move up one round in the middle of the draft. It would probably have to be the 3rd straight up.

(But again, if WPG beats Calgary when it restarts, that 3rd belongs to VGK anyway. )

Totally...I would change the trade but not something majorly different....and yes, it will transfer if we make it

I actually like both these deals.
NOt sure what Stastny is worth, but if that's it right there then Chevvy should pull the trigger. It's just for one year and even though it helps VGK with their cap issues, it helps the jets more with C depth and known chemistry with Laine and Ehlers.
I doubt the sharks would retain any salary, especially with Matty P going back in the deal. But Niku, VEslainen and a 2nd seems fair even if the length of the contract is a bit scary
