First of all I will agree Johnsson is a bit overrated but Kapanen and Dermott??!?!?! Dermott is still young and has proven a lot. And Kapanen's main strength isn't points which most people don't get

You can't be serious with Hughes. Its his first year. How can you call a rookie overrated?!?!?

Wow. Brendan Carlo made this list?!?!? He might be the direct opposite. Same goes for ADA and Bear.

Carlo was 19-20yo in '16-17, played top pair minutes (ATOI of 20:49) and it's not like he was viewed as a top prospect or anything. Had his best season in three years (2nd best defensively). Only in '19-20 he's been even better. He's elite behind his blue line, but yeah he isn't an offensive guy so he won't be a top10/top20 or whatever because you have to be strong in all three zones. But if you only talk defense-wise, he's one of the best.

Also, he can play on the top pair if McAvoy is out and can play well

and what is Kase doing here

Domi isn't overrated, he had a 50 smth IPP this yr, lots of good things were still happening when he was on the ice, the points just weren't falling, he still had good RAPM xGF and GF

You go around saying Rakell isn't worth elite pieces, which I agree with... But so does everyone else, nobody is trading him for much more than your Weegar trades or anything lol

Kap is good, he's a good middle 6 guy, he's underrated but just as many people who overrate him on here

Coleman should be getting talked about for the Selke, he's one of the most underrated players in the league

Sighs Kase is still a good second liner... It's a small minority in the analytics community that still think Kase is a top 10 RW... But he's still underrated by the vast majority of people, he's just not a bottom 6 guy

Mango is somehow underrated on here by leafs fans lol, he used to be very overrated, but now I see far more trades that send him off for like a 4th than a first, in reality he's worth something in between those two imo

DeAngelo is actually competent defensively... I hate saying this and never would have thought it a few weeks ago, but he's not bad

Dermott is underrated, he's very very good at the hockeys, leafs fans will argue that he's like a bottom 4 guy, but he's perfectly capable of playing as a good second pair guy

Is Subban still overrated...? I mean everyone says he sucks now (justifiably)

Bear is such a weird one, oilers fans manage to overrate and underrate him at the same time, he's their best d man, but they refuse to believe that, but then they go around saying he should be in Calder talks ahead of guys like Marino which is just absurd

Carlo is such a weird one, he's elite at what he does good (~95th percentile in most defensive stats) but he's just so bad offensively it completely destroys his overall stats, if I'm up 1 with 2 mins to go in hand 7 of the SCF, there aren't many guys I'd rather want out there, but if I'm down 1 in the same scenario... There aren't many guys I wouldn't rather have out there lol

already explained it. Top 4 guy made out to be either a calder winner or a top 2 guy, which he isn't. Overall just too much hype for now.

Kapanen in trade value. He's a middle six winger. He's a good trade piece, but he's not someone you can use to get anyone.

Dermott seems more like a bottom pair guy that's not turning out to reach his top 4 potential. Leafs fans are convinced he is still worth that former potential.

Kapanen is a 2nd line winger. There are serviceable players that he could be traded for, especially if he's only part of a package. Is that player someone like Pesce? No, but nobody reasonable is suggesting that.

Dermott is a guy that hasn't gotten an opportunity to fulfill his top 4 potential due to a logjam a LD, but he's excelled in a 3rd pair role. He's put up positive numbers across the board since stepping into the league, despite playing with the worst D partners the Leafs have had to offer. Nobody's saying he's a superstar, but most Leaf fans are, and should be, happy with his development.

Bear literally played 1st pairing from game 2 of the season... as a rookie. He was thrust into the position due to an unfortunate injury to Adam Larsson but then held it all season even after Larsson came back and got up to speed.

I don't see how he's overrated, especially on this site.

Carlo came out of nowhere and stepped right into a key position. He's never going to score 50 points, but nobody expects him to. He's not overrated at all.
