Only way u guys get more for Andersen, is if he has an amazing playoffs. And if that happens, then you probably just keep him.

Cool, but, if you are good w the Murray trade. I don’t really see the big difference between the two. Murray coming off .899 % season & I gave up Kapanen +.

Aight, Andersen to Chicago? Next years 1st (top-10 protected) and Roope Laavainen

So consistent top-10 goalie in the league is worth pretty aight prospect and 3rd and 4th?

He’s not a top10 goalie in the league
If he really was, there’s no need to move him
Put away your homer glasses

We dont need to move him. Thats the whole point. There is no reason to move him. He is our starting goalie and top-10 goalie in the league. Other team wants him so they would have to pay a good price to get him. Why exactly would Leafs want trade him?

Too-10 Goalie? coming off a .909%. With one year left, a documented injury history & continual consistency problems. I would say Chicago is taking some risk here.

But I would like take A.Nylander & Entwistle if that makes you happy. But, there is no way Chicago fans would kill that one.

Leafs whole plan is to keep the high skill core together, you can’t do that & spend more than 9% of the cap on goal. Anderson will get a raise after next year, or have another sub-par season. Either way Leafs would move on from him.

In his Toronto tenure, he has been consistent .915-.920 goalie behind defense consisting of Zaitsevs and Hainseys. He carried that team on his back. He is a top-10 goalie. Injury history? He had two injuries in last 4 years and always played 60+ games. Andersen trade should include a 1st at least coming to Leafs.

You can spend that percentage on goalie. Andersen would sign Fleury like deal after next season imo, thats what he should get. They wouldnt move on from him while he is in his prime for sub-par offer.

Well, there’s MANY “big differences” between the 2
While both are coming off what can be considered down seasons....

1- Murray has won a Cup, and played outstanding in another playoffs. Andersen hasn’t even won a series since he was with the Ducks, when he was 25. Which leads me to the next difference

2- Andersen is 5 years older than Murray. So while it’s reasonable to think both could bounce back, it’s entirely possible Andersen is starting his decline.
Either way, a 26 year old goalie is worth more than a 31year old

3- Murray is an RFA, so if a team believes in him, they can sign him to a long term deal, and relatively cheaply bc of this past “down season”
Idk that a team could even possibly consider Anderson a reasonable long term answer. He’s more of a hope he can get back to form for the last year of his deal, but then we’re still looking to get a younger “franchise” goalie even if he does type.

It just doesn’t seem even remotely likely that anyone would give up anything too significant for him.
Certainly not a 1st like the other guy here is suggesting.
That’s laughable even if he does have a great playoffs.

I think your trade of a decent pick or 2 & a decent prospect is the best u can hope for. And u might not even get that.
There’s a bunch of decent goalies that look available this offseason, so teams could just go that route for free instead

Meant the two trades. Point taken. I don’t put a lot of stock in “he won the cup” if he displayed continued greatness, would love to have him cup or no cup. If he show inconsistency & propensity to get hurt, I get less excited the closer he gets to 30.

FA goalies market is sketch, Bob was supposed to be a great catch for FLA.... now not so much. Lehner is my fav FA goalie. I doubt he signs for less than 5 million.

I targeted Murray, cause I was reading Penguins fan blog posts about his next deal being sub-5 million.

If I was Andersson, there is no way I sign a team friendly deal. Dude only has a couple more earning years left.

Yeah good luck convincing Matt Murray to sign for 3 x 4.5M he wants closer to 5 x 5.5M minimally. Noway he's signing that cheaply.

Columbus declines, and there’s no real trade for a goalie from them. Because of exposer requirements the the expansion draft, the only goalies we have eligible to be selected are Korpisalo and Kivleniks as this point. Merzlinkins and Vehvilainen are exempt. As for Bracco, he really doesn’t help is at all as he’d be in the AHL next year with how deep Columbus is at the RW position.

There are other AHL goalies you can sign as UFAs.

VAN decline, the only way the Canucks consider moving Stecher is if they get Tanev signed.
