Not after 1 year that won't happen.

Out of curiosity, why in the world do people keep saying this? I understand that he isn’t arbitration eligible, and I get that it’s one season, but are we really gonna act like this hasn’t happened before? Anyone remember when bickell had ONE good Playoff? Not SEASON. PLAYOFF!!!!! He 4x4 for that. While he probably had arbitration, he was at least a UFA.

All due respect to bickell, I will never ever look back at him fondly and will always take kubalik over him. I know that may be harsh, but I’m just saying, Stan bowman has made **** contract signings before, what’s to say he wouldn’t over pay kuba a little bit?

Kubs has one season in the NHL, Bickell was a bad signing and comparing the two is kinda crazy but at least with Bicks he had like 6 or 7 seasons under his belt and he was a UFA which gives the player more negotiation power not less. With Kubs, there is no telling how he will show up....no way does he get what Cat did. Kubs 1 year deal was basically a tryout and he earned his right to extend the tryout...neither the Hawks (who won't run the risk after 68 games only) or Kubs agent will want to sign say a 5 year $5M deal. In 68 games he puts up 30 goals...on pace for 36 goals in a full season. Hawks will give him a 1 or 2 year deal as insurance while Kubs will bet he can repeat and get a much bigger agreement then he can now.
