TBL one UFA no CBO

Description
This Tampa trade was something I saw earlier today by a Lightening fan @matulix So I thought I would have a look at it from the Montreal side of things. Can't say that I hate it but that Gourde contract will be awful if he remains a 30-35 point guy.

Lol... probably not. Lindgren has no value and Kulak maybe a 3rd or a 4th, we just need them gone

Interesting trade but I don’t think it’s as attractive as some may think. Sergachev is gonna get paid and Gourde makes too much. Adding that much salary likely
means someone we’ll have to be moved because we have Danault, Domi, Gallagher, Tatar, and Petry who all need new deals. If we want Sergachev then try an offer sheet and save having to take on Gourdes contract, we have some great youth coming up that could have as big of an impact as Gourde and cost way less.

You're not getting Sergachev for scraps, If Sergachev takes only 4 x 4.1m then he's staying in Tampa. End of story.

The sad part is, even if that's all he took, Tampa can't afford it unless they move someone out or let everyone else go.

Killlorn will definitely be gone, He has a 14 team trade list this summer. I'd imagine Brisebois will also try to move 2 of Gourde/Johnson or Palat if they'd agree to waive.

This was not a trade that was proposed by a hab's fan. it was posted earlier today by a Tampa fan, I was simply looking at it from the Montreal side. I personally wouldn't make the trade because the Gourde contract is not good and too long.

I can't see doing it with that Gourde contract. Made me think but it is a no from Montreal IMO

I agree, it had my attention but once you project those salaries forward to the 2021-22 season Gourde's contract is going to be a problem. I just wanted to have a look at it from the Montreal side of things

Great post I saw the trade this morning too and did the same thing you did and created the trade from our perspective.
I wanted to analyze the trade from our perspective.
I figure that we lose Petry and Tatar as UFAs after we sign everyone else

No, not at all. I said before he is a serviceable depth dman. If we don't make a trade to strengthen our LH d then Kulak will stay. But if we make a move to get a Brodin from Minny or another top 4 LH defender and with Chairot and Mete and Romanov coming we will have a back log at LD. IMO Kulak is the guy to go.

Tatar for sure, if we are saddled with Gourde for 5 years

Look up stats when he was paired with Petry. By far our best offensive and defensive pair. Never should've been split in my opinion.

If there's one guy I get rid of it's Chiarot. Mete played better than Chiarot with Weber. And Kulak played better than Chiarot with Petry. So where does he fit in exactly?
