We don't need Skjei, nor will we pay that much for him. Svech should not be on the 3rd line when next season he will probably be ppg

Yeah, ya do. Nither Kulak or Mete has cemented themselves in a permanent role on the blueline, and Romanov may or may not be ready.

Since I know the Habs counter argument of "the kids" all too well, Brady isn't that old and fits perfectly into a long term plan. By the time Chariot is done his deal, Skjei, Romanov and Mete form a very good left side.

Norlinder Harris will be NHL ready in 2021-2022 so it’s gonna be Chiarot Romanov Mete/Norlinder/Harris and 2022-2023 Romanov Norlinder Harris. That’s the plan, Jordan Harris is almost NHL ready, Norlinder might need a year in the AHL and we will take our time with Struble. Skjei doesn’t play defense so CJ won’t like him + Chiarot-Weber are a solid pairing with good chemistry, after we need a more minded defense dman to play with Petry ( Mete/Romanov ). That leave Skjei on the 3rd pairing, not paying prime asset for that

Lol. It was an odd deal even at the time given all the goodies already there.

It's case they were all injured, Vatanen, Pesce and Hamilton were all hurt at the time. Skjei was just the only option. I doubt they make the trade if they know the season is gonna stop

skjei Sucks. I have no clue how you got a first for him. I guess we could trade for Skjei HALF RETAINED (2.625M) to play on our first pair over Chiarot

He has 5 years left on contract, I don't think anyone wants to pay 2.6 million for five years for a dude not to play on their team

I understand that, but hell, so many more could have been had for less. Hainsey would have worked!

That’s what Bergevin want to do and will do. Not hard to understand, yesterday or 2 days ago Molson said we will stick to Bergevin plan.

Well that's a direction, not an indictment on Skjei's play. Different concepts.

However, it's hard to understand when he is talking of resigning Tatar. So wait out the kids on the blueline but resign a soon to be 30 year old that would actually net a great return.

That good sir/ma'am is the very definition of counterproductive, and a loose synomym for the "spinning wheels".

I get it, but no one's calling about skjei to relive your clogged Defense, they're calling about Hamilton and Pesce. And we all know you have some ridiculous price tag on those 2 but let's be honest skjei is a cap dump at this point

Should that shock anyone? He could have netted a 3rd easily..... 40 or not, he had a pretty good year.

My point was they wanted to keep him. it would have been more than that to land him, and Skjei is just 14 years younger

Shouldn't the point be why would the Sens want to keep him? Get a pick, and if you want him back, look at him again in the offseason. Not discounting he looked good, but experience and an expiring contract at the deadline I have to think teams would have had interest.

Let's pretend the Canes were gonna miss the playoffs. Would it not behove them to ask Williams if he wanted to move? Maybe Dorion did that.🤷‍♂️. But it's Ottawa, and strange things go in in Ottawa.
