Yeah but we really need a defensive 3C like Faska our defensive structure sucks...

Tho to be fair the first step in fixing that is to fire Lindy Ruff...

You’re way too high on your Igor and Lindgren contracts.

Don’t think MDZ/Greene are on the radar. (They’d go younger)

Strome fetches more than that.

Don’t think Rangers go for Mercer (they’ll be better players on the board and they don’t really pick from the Q ever)

IG I'd do it for Faksa and a 2nd round pick straight up.

You think they'll go for a 2-3 year bridge for Igor?
As for Lindgren, meh, choose between 2 years, 2,75 mil AAV or the above...

As for the d-men I didn't have much money to spend so I had to go with cheaper options, MDZ and Greene

As for the «they don't really pick from the Q ever»... expand that to CHL, looks like we finally have one in Robertson, but they miss to much talent by ALWAYS picking the euro or the american one...

I mean for instance in what universe was Andersson a better option than Suzuki??

Kings have no interest in Smith. The Kings can do much better on the return for eating $4.35M in cap space.

enjoy your cap being destroyed because you paid big bucks for a goalie, right after you got out of a huge contract

No I think they'll go long term. But the comps are guys like Gibson/Hellebuyck not Vasilevskiy/Bobrovsky. You can knock about 2 mil off your contract.

Close to the same thing with Lindgren. I have him similar to where EW has other comparable LHD.
Siegenthaler: 1.25 x 2
Philippe Myers: 1.5 x 2
Mete: 1.8 x 2
Dermott: 1.8 x 2.

Lindgren isn't getting more than any of those guys. And he shouldn't.

There are plenty of comparable dmen for cheap on the UFA circuit. For under 1 mil you could get Freddy Claesson, Paul Ladue, Oscar Fantenberg, Tim Heed, Jan Rutta, TVR, Joakim Ryan. I'd take someone like Jon Merrill 1000x over Andy Greene for what you paid for him.

they hired a WHL scout before last season, that's how we ended up with Robertson. I thought the Andersson pick was kinda a reach but they really botched his development. That's the bigger issue. If he started last season where Howden was, we're probably not even having a conversation about a 3C.

Rangers biggest need is LHD and center depth. I like the physicality and speed of Nosek and Faksa to carry the bottom 6 under Mika and Chytil, so I like those moves.

I think its fair to expect the rangers to sign a pair of veteran LHD's for cheap, for a year while K'Andre (who I do not think well be ready yet) plays in Hartford.
The question is if Del Zotto and Greene are who they go with. Defense this season will remain the biggest question mark.

Lindgren - Fox
Staal - Tony D
Greene/Del Z/Somebody else - Troubs

Pretty much standing pat from this past year.

But when Kakko and Chytil breakout, the forward group will be among the best, especially with hard hitting guys like Faksa and Nosek

Like if we can pick Mercer we should literally do it pretty much no question IMO

Pass. Need some sort of protection against the likely fact that he isn’t as good away from elite wingers

Ok. I have him in the 20's in my rankings. Not really a consideration for me with the 1st pick at all (that'd be one of Amirov/Gunler/Mysak/Jarvis/Holloway and even Khusnutdinov) if any of those are around at our 2nd pick I'd take them there.

Igor will be near 26, he'll get 7.5-11m. Most likely 9-11m if he simply keeps up his dominance while improving! I'd go with the long term lucky 9.4m

Yup. Cap is killing us, just like every other team. Yet he's a keeper.

Well we have 1 season and 2 playoffs to figure that out. He's good, polished, potential of being great. Hard to hope for otherwise.

I would prefer having bozak, but I can live with faksa... although faksa would cost us $2.25M less than bozak

don't get me wrong, I like faksa as our 3C
Root liked this.

I like the trades ...Not so sure about the Howden trade cause i don't think we'll be able to match what Howden brings with a 2nd round pick..its a gamble.
