Faulk's xGA took a major dive when moving from Pesce to Parayko. I'm concerned you're at team stats, not individual. I highly recommend looking at Hockey-viz for the isolated ice impact or Hockeyviz for RAPM, which are both far better indicators than the percentiles.

Here's a comparison for Faulk's stats 2018/2019-2019/2020

Offensive stats are irrelevant for our discussion but have a look at the defensive stats

Are you positive on that????

You understand, just looking at how it's caculated, this heavily favours offence right? It's weighing GAR too highly to use as a reliable reflection of defensive stats. Hockeyviz or Evolving Hockey are MUCH better for isolated impacts

and may I just say Faulk plays with Pietrangelo, Dunn, and Bouwmeester more than he does with Parayko.

You can't look at the defensive stats without looking at how they're calculated. It's favouring offence far too much to give a reliable defensive reading.

How so? Exp Ga, shots against, and the others are isolated stats that aren't effected by offense.

The percentiles are weighed to favour offence. It's why I prefer the bare stats

Not my fault you don't know Pesce's value. He's worth what he's worth. Don't like it? We'll keep him smile

You are literally the only person who thinks he's an elite player. Even his advanced stats like possession, shot share, and expected goals are either good or below average. You have the biggest bias for your favourite team on this site. Worse than any Leaf fan.

He's in the 7th percentile for xGa TM REL. That is worse then Ceci, worse then Sandin, and comparable to Liljegren. I get his playstyle doesn't look great from an analytics perspective but 7th percentile is ****ing atrocious.

He's a good player but he's a product of the system there. Without playing in the high volume shots for and clog the middle to prevent shots against system that he plays in Carolina, I don't think he's anything more than a #4 defenceman. He can play with a top guy for sure, but he's never been nor will ever be a top defenceman. He's a secondary piece. So to think he's worth an actual top player like Nylander and then some is just ****ing insane.

1 year of Analytics > 4 Years of Analytics?

You are looking at a percentile of 1 season, and it's been a rough season. It's a very small sample size you have to look at the 4 year sample to even get a good amount a sample to compare.

RAMP charts might be one of the worst developments for the analytics community. I used to be super into these kinds of things and then realized they aren't indicative of skillset. They are cool to look at to check in and see how a player's underlying numbers are doing, but I wouldn't put any weight into these for debating a player's value or trade worth.
