Yak fetches a high 2nd rounder at best, No way are you getting a 1st for Yak.

You could argue that the extra high pick is to move Stoner...As it is I don't think the Ducks want Yak. Not till they have their RFA situation under control. Though I guess in this instance we would be saving about 700k.

Can't think of any reason that rebuilding NJ would do that trade. Stoner: If the Ducks really want to dump him for cap reasons, might have to settle for 7th rounder.

I'd be shocked if they weren't trying to move Stoner for budget reasons. He makes more than Despres next season and less than a million less than Fowler. If you're trying to just make more money available you trade the 3rd pairing Stoner over the shared top unit player in Fowler. Ducks survive easily without Stoner, I'm less convinced about without Fowler.

As for the NJ side, they need Defense in a bad way. Their first is the biggest asset coming back to the Ducks and really the only one with real value. Boucher is nice but his upside is limited. His max is probably a middle tweener edging closer to a 3rd line type player. I'd be shocked if Anaheim did that trade honestly.

All I know is if Yakupov was truly available for only a second rounder last deadline, NHL GM's are moronic. Once again as I've said many times before, I think Yakupov was dangled for a 2nd rounder to see how many takers there were but I couldn't fathom him actually being traded away for only that.

I pray that Chiarelli trades him to Montreal for a 2018 2nd rounder. I would be praising Bergevin for once. Even if Yakupov ends up failing, that is a risk play that merits losing a 2nd rounder. The risk is significant but the reward is astronomical.
