Right but Eichel is significantly better than Aho. And Dahlin will be a lot better than Slavin is his prime. Dylan Cozens and Ukko Pekka Lukkonen are the Sabres best prospects.

Dahlin has potential to be as good defensively while adding more offense so Dahlin>Slavin for sure. Slavins nearly half the price tho of what Dahlin will make

This kinda stuff is annoying me a lil bit haha. How can we even predict what Dahlin will become? Saying Dahlin will be just as good defensively as Slavin is such a long shot, i dont even get it. (possible of course, but a long shot)

If I can throw out a prediction as well, Id say you see Dahlin put up numbers while Slavin stays one of the best in the game defensivly.

Yeah Dahlin was drafted first overall and has been one of the best teenage defensemen in the history of the league because of his bad potential. Even if Dahlin isn't quite as good defensively as Slavin, his defensive ability combined with his much higher offensive upside will make him the more effective player over his career than Slavin for the rest of his.

Because he's shown that his offensive abilities are limited and hes already one of the best defensive defenseman so where is there to go?

You have not seen much of Slavin,

And I havent seen much of Dahlin.

I think this is settled haha

I watched a lot of Canes games until Dougie got hurt cause I had him and Turbo on my fantasy team. He was a solid puckmover and had a good transition game but he didn't seem to drive play in the Ozone and Carolina likes to spend a lot of time and cycle

Am I wrong? If he was on the ice with Hamilton, Dougie would be the primary blue line puckhandler. Slavin touched the puck and moved it within the system but wasn't the one the play was built around.

@jslongo Slavin has a high-end breakout pass and transition game, perfect gap control, positioning and anticipation, and the best defensive stick I have ever seen. Also very good in the shoot out. His contract is one of the best values in the league for a top pairing d-man. He is my favorite player and I own 2 signed jerseys. All that said... Dahlin is the more valuable player. He has the potential to be best d-man in the WHOLE LEAGUE. He is still very young and his ceiling is way higher than Slavin's. While I do agree that we have not yet seen peak Slavin, I do not think that his offensive production will ever eclipse that of Dahlin. A lot of the posters here have not taken into account the value of Slavin and Aho's contracts, however Eichel and Dahlin are both step above the Canes players and are worth every cent of their respective contracts. This trade is not even in the realm of realistic. In a vacuum it may seem fair, Aho (8.5 mil/66 pts/cap savings) = Eichel (10 mil/78 pts) and Slavin (5.3 mil/36 pts/future cap savings) = Dahlin (soon to be 8 mil+/40 pts,) but that is not the reality. Then on top of that you add their 3 best prospects? The whole thing is egregious.

I thought that the Bean/Samberg swap would be the less controversial one. I don't think that Samberg is ready for the NHL yet, and Winnipeg needs defensive help right now. Jake Bean is ready right now to play in your top-4. I think that him and DeMelo would be a very strong pairing. I think a group like this would be a vast improvement over the rag-tag group that the Jets had last year:

Morrissey-Pionk
Bean-DeMelo
Niku-Poolman
Dahlstrom

You're just trying to salvage something from Bean before you lose him in the expansion draft, hopefully Waddell is thinking the same way... Lol

Personally I would do it myself if not for the expansion draft considerations, I'm really not high on Samberg, in reality though I'm sure the Jets management are super high on him and won't be trading him anytime soon. I do agree with others though that the Jets need some size on the back end, Bean is kind of more of the same of what the Jets already have.

Do you know who a single player you are trading for from Buffalo is? This is the WORST serious trade I have ever seen. I'll counter with Reinhart, Portillo, Brandon Montour, 2022 3rd for Aho, Teravinen, Svechnikov, Necas, Nedeljkovic, Bokk, and Brind'amor

I actually prefer that Carolina goes 8-1 and protects Bean and Fleury. I'm very high on Bean, and our defense is a higher priority to protect, IMO, than the forward group (outside of the SAT line. It really helps us that Necas is exempt). Also, I think that size and physicality is pretty overrated as far as its overall impact on defensive metrics.

I agree that I was over-zealous on the prospect inclusions. In reality, I should've written it as a straight-up deal with a draft pick to balance it out. It's not time to over-blow it though. This is just me playing with ACGM seeing what kind of crazy deal that I could create. I even wrote another, more realistic offseason right afterwards, so you shouldn't take this too seriously.
