McDavid isn’t a goal score!! He’s a playmaker. Your statement makes zero sense!

McDavid plays a reckless style of one man show hockey and in all likihood is one hit away from another serious injury.

He's twice the player???? Yet, Matthews scores more goals than McDavid. Your statement makes no sense.

Umm, in the past 3 seasons McDavid has out scored him in 2 of the 3 seasons. That and goals scored are not a standard on how good a player is. Points per game is a better indicator and McDavid destroys him every year.

Why did he sign a 5 year deal?? It’s obvious he will leave after his contract. Toronto just offered him a contract he can’t decline, and he doesn’t want to screw over his next team.

He signed for 5 years to set himself up for a monster contract when he resigns in Toronto after winning a couple of Stanley Cups before the expiry of his contract.

It may not be the best trade but when McDavid wants out which he will it is a very realistic trade for the Oilers. You need to realize that McDavid has a monster ego and he is not going to put up with excuses much longer in Edmonton.

McDavid has a monster ego? Since when, you must be mistaking him for Matthews

Why do you want him then?? There’s a reason why Kassian plays with him. It’s to protect him from the other guys! If he plays a “reckless style” then he is doing a pretty good job at it, and that’s just the way he is with his amazing speed.

I’m sorry to tell you this, but he signed a 5 year deal, because he is going to leave in my opinion. I don’t think he’s staying, but hey I could be wrong.

No chance the Leafs will be loser more as their team is set to rock and roll now as their time has arrived. McDavid knows it as well and its time to leave Edmonton.

If you watched Bobby Orr you would realize that players like McDavid who like to be kind of a one man show and skate through an entire team with the puck like they did in minor hockey get punished in the NHL. No player is going to goon McDavid as they all respect him to much. Its just his style of play is reckless.

Nope, he’s not kidding. Face Boston in the playoffs, and you guys will choke every time.

You say taking Boston to a game 7 two years in a row is choking when the core of the Leafs are very young?

It depends, they just need to hope Smith is ready. Cause he will most likely be the deciding factor against chicago and beyond. Plus the pacific is becoming a tough division and with the Rebuild of the California teams it may end up like the old days where SanJose, Anaheim, and the Kings are the front runners.

Yup. You still lose. Doesn’t matter that they are young if you aren’t doing good!

yeah there blue line is fine, a little inconsistent but hey we all cant be Dallas. There pp also got much better, they just need to hope there goaltending is good as thats the only concern for the playoffs as Koskinen and Smith are good just need to find consistency.

You are showing no respect to the great core of Bruin players who most are at their prime ages compared to the young Maple Leafs core which makes no sense to me.

The team is a mess with too much money tied up into two players. If Leon or Connor gets hurt, the season is over for the Oilers.

Oilers also do not have a true No. 1 goalie because they do not have the capspace which will be the kiss of death for the team when the playoffs commence.

Mcdavid missed time this year and Leon just scored more I wouldn’t worry.

The deal looked garbage to me at first. But once I saw Bracco thrown in at the end it really all came together.. What a steal for the Oilers! tears of joy

Let's face it. Both teams have low chances. And both have the same problem. Large contracts that just don't work with the current cap system. Resulting in not enough depth to compete against the more balanced teams.

McDavid would cost Matthews +
But that plus would have to be A LOT more significant than what you propose
None of those other pieces are significant enough for EDM to swap McDavid & Matthews
Think less quantity & more quality
