Oilers are the only second place in division team to have to play in. They get put up against a team that’s won the season series against them. They are likely going to be named hub city because it’s safer and less chance of a surrounding outbreak that could interfere with playoffs. The league almost owes it to them. That being said I am an oilers fan and don’t want to see it happen just because it wouldn’t be fair to other fan bases and would build unfair hate towards them even tho they are the team that’s getting screwed the most with this format.

If the league cared about rigging the lottery for struggling teams, McDavid or Matthews would be in ARI, in case nobody has noticed they aren’t. FLA has a recent #1 pick and it did nothing for attendance, they also have Barkov at 2 and attendance still struggles. Doubt Lafrenière will be better than Barkov too.
CAR winning wouldn’t save the team, they have gained their fans back thanks to a couple strong seasons, they are fine

Well the Leafs already got Matthews on the covid19 watch, so maybe Auston sits out the playoffs and watch the BJ's win but the Leafs get #1 pick.

With this knowledge, lots of GM's and or players might use covid19 as an excuse to sit out the playoffs only to improve the franchise chance of Laffy.
