byfield is the better player but kings already have too many centers

But if you pick up Byfield, you can play him on the wing, or move one of Kopitar/Carter

I don't agree with him being better, but you do realize that Stutzle projects out to be a center at the NHL level. He is a natural center. They played him frequently at wing, but that is not his natural position.
One reason he played at wing is he was a 17-18 year old playing with grown adults. The other is he could get away with it on the larger ice in europe.
At the NHL level, the center of the ice is where he should play.

Yeah, too many centers is such nonsense. Oh no! You have the better player and he might play on the wing but can fill in at C, or if one of your other C prospects cant play C at the nhl level!

No, Kings have Turcotte, Vilardi, and Kopitar in the top 6 and JAD and Lizotte in the bottom 6 centers.

As it looks without Stutzle/Byfield the Kings already have to put Turcotte at LW because of Kopitar and Vilardi. After Kopitar is traded/retires Vilardi and Turcotte have to fight for his job as the 1C. Kings need wingers desperately and Stutzle will be a natural LW.

As for right now Stutzle is the better player which makes it even more logical to pick him.

Byfield has a lot of hard to overcome flaws in his game and probably 2 to 3 years away from the NHL. Also I hate when they compare him to Geno, he has literally zero physicality to his game which is a BIG turn off for me considering he is 6'4 and probably going to be 6'5.

if he cant play center against men now, why should we think he can do it later?

you realize he's not playing center against other 17-18 year olds right.
He's going against guys who are 24+ fully developed, years of practice in the game.

You know, prospects do grow in their skill, knowledge and strength right?

And as for why he should be there now. His speed. This isn't a wide rink in the NHL. He had all kinds of room to work on the wing in Europe. So much space out there. And his speed let him use it. Why hem him in. That's just dumb.
Like most prospects he probably still needs a little work on his play away from the puck. But his speed is game breaking.
He's basically a Barzal clone.
Fast, really quick, and can stick handle past anyone. He's hard on the puck.
You don't put a Barzal on the wing. You also won't put Stutzle there.

Except that when most young players are forced to wing because they arnt strong enough they rarely go back. Barzal was a bug not a feature.
Stutzle may become a C one daye, but its not likely.
You also dont pick barzal over a bigger, stronger, more skilled and almost as fast player.

I think the Sabres would make this deal if there was not a deal for a higher end 2C that they can find

Byfield is no where near as fast., and he's not more skilled. He's just big. And he played in a league full of young kids where he used his size against them.
That isn't going to work next level.
And plenty of players go from wing to Center.
A lot of centers in the NHL actually started on the wing. Crosby started on the wing, just to the left of Mario.

You learn, then you move over. It helps you shelter younger guys who still need to improve their game. You realize Forwards don't peek till they are 27 and their best years are their early 20s.
He's was freaking 17.

Yeah byfield is very fast, which a lot of people discount exactly because he's tall and has a huge stride and doesnt look like a waterbug.
He"ll be able to use that speed and his size in the NHL, where Stutzle will have just speed to rely on.
And yes, byfield is more skilled. His hands arw great his shot is great, his hockey IQ is top drawer.
Hes just a better prospect
Most kids arnt crosby and have mario to play beside them.

I don't think you have watched a whole game of either one play.
Byfield does not have elite speed. That does not mean he's slow. But there is a huge difference in the speed at which Byfield plays and Stutzle plays. And you will never understand that till you watch him actually play. Not just videos on youtube.
Further more, byfield is not more skilled. I don't know where you even get this mess. If you watched him play you'd know that is absurd. It's why damn near every scout has said Stutzle is the best stick handler in the draft. His hand eye is off the charts. At 17-18 he's dangling around 25-33 year old defensemen in the adult league in Germany like it's absolutely nothing.
just stop making things up as you go. You clearly haven't seen either.

Byfield does have high end speed, he just doesnt play a high speed game. They have very different play styles and one is zooming around all the time and the other uses his more sparingly.
Furthermore, Byfield is more skilled, I dont know where you are getting this mess. If you watched him play you'd know it is absurd to say other wise. It's amazing how stick handling isnt the only thing that is part of being skilled. Byfield's hand eye is also incredible and at 17-18 he's dangling around the best development league in the world for jr age propsects and not the 4th tier adult league like it's nothing.
just stop making things up as you go. You clearly havent seen either.

Seriously this is ridiculous, i get it, stutzle is good but literally everything people are yipping on about scouts saying stutzle has they say the exact same things about Byfield and more. And i bet you totally stayed up late to watch all those DEL games to scout a guy who was slotted to go closer to 10 than 2 for 80% of the lead up to the draft.
