Habs are willing to sacrifice some of our top wingers to get Toews as a No 1 center, and to make room for kotkaniemi and caufield. Highmore makes up for the depth losses of weal, poehling

I don't really think the Habs would want to take Toews' contract. Also, Toews is the captain of the Blackhawks and a fan favorite. I don't see the Hawks trading him anytime soon.

Both teams reject. Toews is well liked in Chicago, and Montreal isn’t trading for a grossly overpaid 33 year old centre.

Chicago takes it. They had a near dynasty and this gets them out of rebuild years faster. Fans would get over it for a steal. You could always just make in Patty Cakes instead of Toews if you want. Mtl should decline anyway.
