They should and I'd imagine they will. Never said otherwise.
The only risk they take with that is that if Dumba doesn't rebound, it confirms concerns about his injury having lasting effects and would lower his value further. I'd still take that chance though.
How do they save a 1st round pick if Dumba has 2 years left instead of 3?

If he rebounds. I'd rather have two years of a guy who has shown that any concerns of post injury effects are behind him than 3 years of a guy who might just be ass now. I also don't think the 'save their 1st' thing was quite literal, just meaning not to trade Dumba at a low point in value.
Nylander > Dumba and Johnsson > Donato and Greenway
I guess Toronto can thrown in Johnsson but the 1st stays
Nylander + Johnsson --> Dumba + #12 OA
I would not trade Nylander unless that 1st is included in the deal.
Well i dunno about Johnsson being better than Johnsson or Greenway......besides that is really more of a trade for cap space..the higher Johnsson for Donato or Greenway.......as for Nylander vs Dumba i think it's too hard to say which is better.....it's like apples to oranges....Nylander had a good season this year and Dumba was not the samr after the injury....just seems adding a top d is so hard especially not knowing if we will be able to re-sign Rielly
