The 4th Line is certainly the right spot for Galchenyuk’s skill level, but it’s not necessarily where you would want to put him. His defensive deficiencies make him worse than useless when playing there. He’s probably better off playing a role like Charles Hudon where he plays in the AHL, but gets called up and fills a top 9 role in a worst case scenario.

I agree. Other than Eichel it isn’t particularly good. But Eichel makes it so much better.

First comment is irrelevant. Also, kinda dumb since Habs top 6 is strong enough to make Domi expandable.

Second comment is partially true. Ullmark has hi potential. But without a good system, defence minded fowards and support from a veteran backup, he is set for faillure.

I think this is definitely a playoff team if healthy. Would like to see 1B goalie addressed and get a better 2 way veteran forward that can helpnon the PK for the spot occupied by Galchenyuk. I think we overpay slightly on the trades but would be willing to make those deals to have this roster next year

The only thing I can see with this trade is this: MTL cannot keep adding quantity over quality. Domi is a proven, controlable top-6 asset. There is absolutely no guarantee that the 3 assets coming back will have an impact in the NHL. I'm not saying Mtl would not do it, I'm just saying that this kinda Domi trade would probably trigger something else. Be it another trade or a UFA signing of importance.
